Amazon Web Services (AWS) announces the general availability of Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, a storage service that allows customers to launch and run complete, fully managed ONTAP file systems in the cloud for the first time. ONTAP is NetApp’s file system technology that has traditionally powered on-premises network-attached storage (NAS) and provides a widely adopted set of data access and data management capabilities.
FSx services from AWS are designed to launch, run, and scale fully managed high-performance file systems in the cloud.
Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP is a new offering under the FSx umbrella of services, delivering a fully managed service designed, sold, deployed, supported, and operated by AWS, and as the name suggests, it integrates NetApp ONTAP, the flagship file services platform from NetApp, a trusted and leading enterprise infrastructure vendor.
AWS plans to make FSx for NetApp ONTAP available wherever it offers other FSx services in shared and dedicated cloud environments, globally.
Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP is available in today in all commercial AWS Regions, excluding the US West (N. California) Region, the Asia Pacific (Osaka) Region, the AWS China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the AWS China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD.
