While many of us still rely on traditional games consoles for our gaming needs, that will likely start to change next year as Sony’s game-streaming service, PlayStation Now, is coming to Samsung Smart TVs.
Sony is partnering with its rival in an effort to expand the reach of its streaming service and grab marketshare quickly while they are still virtually unchallenged in the field. Samsung also looks to be a great partner not only because of their reach in the TV market but also because of their lack of products in the gaming market.
Sony says approximately 200 PlayStation 3 games will be available for streaming and those come with full functionality such as cloud save, online multiplayer and so on. Users will only need a DualShock 4 controller to get in on the action.
Online game streaming has been the focus of many efforts over the years though none have quite panned out until now. Sony has a chance to change the market forever and we’ll be excited to see the company’s demos at CES next month, as well as its rivals’ responses.
