Opera Gives Away Educational Licenses

Opera Software has announced that it will make its popular web browser available free of charge to universities and colleges. Originally, schools had to purchase licenses in bulk at a cost of $1 each. Institutions like M.I.T and Harvard have already started to make Opera available for student download.

"Opera is the ideal browser for the university environment," said Opera CEO Jon von Tetzchner. "Opera's user-friendly features, accessibility options for the disabled, and cross-platform and customization capabilities make life easier for students to manage their various study needs. Opera is fully standards compliant and offers extensive administration possibilities for network configuration, providing flexibility to system administrators as they make Opera a part of their university network."

Schools can use different logos and colors to customize Opera for their students, and can use the communication banner to announce educational news and events. Institutions can apply for free educational licenses on Opera's website.
