A quick look at the 21 Xbox One launch games

Barring last minute delays, people who get their hands on the Xbox One console on Friday will be able to pick from 21 games made for Microsoft's next-gen game machine. By contrast, 18 games were available for the Xbox 360's launch in 2005.

Here's a quick look at all of the launch titles, starting with the ones that Microsoft is publishing and will be Xbox One exclusives:

Forza Motorsport 5: In-house developer Turn 10 Interactive brings Xbox One owners the latest game in the long running racing simulation series.

Ryse: Son of Rome: Crysis developer Crytek created this graphically impressive third person action game set during the Roman Empire.

Dead Rising 3: Capcom Vancouver will let Xbox One owners take out as many zombies as possible in the latest entry in the open world game series.

Killer Instinct: This revival of the classic fighting game series from Rare and Double Helix will offer one fighter for free for any Xbox One owner. Other characters can be bought and added to the game seprately or all of them can be purchased for one price.

Zoo Tycoon: After a break of a few years, Microsoft brings back this zoo simulation game series for the Xbox One, made for them by Frontier Developments.

Lococyle: Developer Twisted Pixel has made a funny action game about a man and his talking motorcycle for the Xbox One.

Crimson Dragon: Japanese developer Land Ho made this rails shooter game for Microsoft Studios where you take on the role of a dragon.

Powerstar Golf: Developer Zoë Mode made this downloadable arcade golf game for Microsoft Studios exclusively for the Xbox One.

The Xbox One will also have a number of games that will be released by publishers other than Microsoft, most of which have already appeared on other platforms.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Ubisoft's historical (sort of) action game series will make its way to the Xbox One.

Battlefield 4: EA and DICE's own military shooter will bring the battle to Microsoft's next gen console.

Call of Duty: Ghosts: Activision's latest game in the military shooter series is coming to the Xbox One. Also, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will get first crack at any future DLC packs for the game.

FIFA 14: EA's latest pro soccer game will be a big hit for the Xbox One; European pre-orders get the game for free.

Fighter Within: Ubisoft brings us the only game that requires Kinect to play, as players move their bodies to compete in this fighting game.

Just Dance 2014: Ubisoft's mega selling dance game will be part of the Xbox One's launch.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Warner Bros. Interactive brings us this Xbox One port of the family friendly super hero action game.

Madden NFL 25: EA brings home their pro football franchise for the Xbox One launch.

NBA 2K14/NBA LIVE 14: Two pro basketball games come to the Xbox One from 2K Sports and EA Sports, respectively.

Need For Speed Rivals: EA offers up its latest game in its arcade racing series for the Xbox One.

Skylanders: Swap Force: Activision has decided to port their family friendly collectible figure-action game to the Xbox One.

Zumba Fitness: World Party: Majesco will release this latest game in the dance-exercise series for the Xbox One and its Kinect camera.

If you are getting an Xbox One, which game or games do you plan on buying at the same time you get the console? Let us know in the comments.

PS4 pre-order cool dude here.

I think the only game I'm jealous of is Forza. Although KI could be interesting too. I'm going for BF4 anyway so happy days.

Games I'm buy on launch

Forza 5 (Free with the machine)
Ryse
Dead Rising 3
COD: Ghosts
Battlefield 4
Need for Speed
Powerstar Golf

I'll also download Kinect Rivals Demo and Killer Instinct

me 2 - Killer Instinct is a must have... After that ill get Forza 5

I honestly wouldn't get an XB1 if it wasn't for Killer Instinct.

Wouldn't Just Dance require Kinect also? IMO the better launch list, but I'm most likely waiting for Titanfall before I go next-gen.

omg that Zumba game looks incredible. What's the polygon count on those characters?

Think I'll get that and Forza to start.

Only one since it's a video overlay! Most optimized polygonal models ever.

i've just realized that i can get most of the identical gameplay games (and some same-titled ones, too) for free at one time or other for my iphone or ipad.

Hmmm, Son of Rome is a game I am going to get.

ive just heard so many bad reviews on it, like on GI they simply flat out said don't get it LOL..

however, I still feel like getting it... still seems like a solid game

I will read reviews first....like always.

remember when people were saying Microsoft doesn't care about gamers. Well look at the launch games vs the competition.

I still think Halo s***s on the majority the games out there. I'm dying to see Halo 5 and this new Halo.

Same - but didn't like Halo 4 as much as Halo 3 or Reach. I probably wasted about half a year of my life playing 3 and Reach, if you add up all of my games

Admit it, this launch list is more bad ass.

meh. only games i care about are ac4 bf4 and cod ghosts which are on pc and ps4 no reason for me to buy an xbox.... after seeing how horrible halo 4 is (I saved my old xbox only for halo even though I moved to PC gaming and it was a huge disappointment).

You all have problems if you thought Halo 4 was a disappointment.

It was. Skill gap wasn't as big as with Reach and Halo 3. No snipe medal for headshots. They just dumbed it down.

I don't even get how people disregard the story. There are reasons why certain guns or certain things don't exist.

I normally play the campaign, but didn't get around to it this time for some reason. I stopped playing Xbox altogether a few months back, but am getting the XBone when I can.
