"Welcome to Flash Player 12 and AIR 4! In today's scheduled release, we've updated both Flash Player and AIR with new and improved functionality, important bug fixes and security updates.

Today we are introducing a new numbering scheme for our product versions. Adopting the pattern set by Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, we will simply update the major version number with each subsequent release. In other words, beginning with this release, Flash Player will become Flash Player 12. With each new major release, roughly every 3 months, that number will increase by one."

thanks for that heads up, but the ONLY place I download this thing from is here, http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html and it's not listed there as of yet.

no "extra" crap with it then and it doesn't reset the auto update feature under services like the stock version provided in article does. I despise programs that do that and I also HATE auto update crap!!

AFAIK the executables downloaded from here and from that page are exactly the same (when that page gets updated). Unless you use the MSI versions.

To be quite honest, I haven't downloaded flash from the links provided here, or any where other than the link I posted, in so long, that what you say may be possible now, but it never was before, and I'm not about to try it any time in the very near future either!

Thanks for that info though.

As always Adobe is complicated. If you want to know the beginning of the start of the story you have to stick on their forums 24/7/365. Downloading from Adobe is a pain in the neck and were it not for Neowin and a very few other sites the nightmare would be on air. Their release notes are always late, the whole thing is an everlasting capharnaĆ¼m.

Instead of spreading FUD, how about you get the story straight. Only the plug-in version on Windows is 43, all others are earlier builds. Considering how software builds work, and their eventual change in version numbering scheme, this is all A-Okay.
