Apple celebrates 1 billion podcast subscriptions

Over on iTunes, Apple is touting another milestone that they've reached with one of their many services. A big banner is telling us that the fruit company has in excess of 1 billion Podcast subscriptions.

Podcasts were launched back in 2005 with only a handful of subscribers, but the business has grown substantially with most news outlets now putting out countless podcasts each day. And that’s not even including the millions of independent podcast creators. The accessibility and ease of creation have made the podcast format an extremely successful medium.

Apple is highlighting this milestone by showcasing some of the most popular podcasts, as well as a collection of new shows that the company thinks you'll enjoy.
