Apple holding a 'rock and roll' themed event, September 9th

Apple will be holding a rock and roll based event on September 9th, and if you use the past as an indicator, Apple will be announcing new iPods. The iPod Touch is rumored to keep the same form factor but a camera will be added along with expanded storage capacities.

The slogan for the event is "It's only rock and roll, but we like it" which suggests that this will be a music only event and that the heavily rumored Apple tablet will not be making an appearance.

Not much else is known about what Apple will be showing off at the event. One thing that you can bet on is staying tuned to Neowin as we will keep you posted on all of Apple's newest gear.

I think the Beatles will be there for a reunion with the entire band. First one in years.

That would be impressive seeing as they would to resurrect George Harrison and John Lennon. If anyone can do it, Jobs can!

Im hoping for a 64GB iPod Touch. Currently working with an 5th Gen Pod, this would be welcomed with open arms if it came out.

My guess is, same old, hype, rumours and high expectations; only then to be let down because of this. Even though Apple themselves say absolutely nothing about the event - apart from the invite.

iPod updates and that’s all folks.

If they bring out a 64GB iPod Touch and price it the same as the current 32GB Touch, they'll have me hooked!

If they did that, I would get that and forego getting the next iPhone, which would coincide with my next contract expiration.

My dad's due for an upgrade in November and surprisingly, I managed to convince him to get an iPhone when he upgrades, so even if I don't get the iPod Touch, I'll still be able to play around with one in the house! :P

A camera... meh. There can't be much more they can add to the iPod, and it can't get any smaller either.

They can add a better screen, like in the new zune hd. They could add GPS, compass, which would be great.

Yep, I think the choice of September 9th probably means the Beatles are being added to iTunes.

Blatantly a Beatles related announcement is imminent. The Beatles: Rock Band is released on the same day and since when did Apple do events on a Wednesday?

The remastered CDs of The Beatles are also coming. We already know The Beatles are coming to iTunes one of these days. It may be that time.

There will definitely be a new ipod touch. This is not questions. What it will have, that is the question.

Now if it comes with GPS, it will blow the new zune out of the water. Possibly it will come out with the new oled screens like the new zune, but unlikely. It will also come out with a 64gb version and a camera.

I somehow predict a lame rock band that most will, if anything, simply nod their heads to while looking around to make sure they're not the only one's nodding. The others will then at least have a reason to use their iPods.

I suspect subscriptions could be coming to fight of spotifiy.

I hope so. Canceled my Zune Pass subscription due to getting an iPhone. Would love to have an iTunes subscription service. To people who would normally buy more than 1 album/month it is a good deal even if you do lose all the music when you cancel your subscription. Also, makes you more open to try new music that you would not have otherwise given a chance.

Doubt it, Jobs has always yelled sub-based services deserve to die at the flamey pitts of hell. Apple = purchase only.

He has also denied that he was bringing out a phone. Most companies will deny and talk down everything, until the next week when they are ready to annouce it. See PS3 and its price cuts. See Microsoft and the Zune, or the Zunephone.

possibly an itunes store/itunes re-design or upgrade?

I would imagine. I think I heard about a beta being out actually, but I may be wrong.
