As those who have used iTunes before have noticed, video is a huge part of the iTunes Store. Movie rentals, TV shows, music videos, and even video podcasts, all there ready to be downloaded. There is one problem with this, especially with the growing number of HD videos...they take up a hefty amount of room. Whether this be on your laptop, PC, or even mobile device, video content takes up a lot of space. Apple seems to be attempting to remedy this, as Apple Insider reports, with an 'iTunes Replay' service.
As you may guess, this Replay service allows direct streaming from Apple's servers, meaning you can purchase content and watch it without having to store it locally. With Apple's devices such as the Apple TV only having limited space, users complain that they can only download their videos, watch them, and then leave them there to eat up room, or put them on external media. iTunes Replay would certainly end this.
This would be fantastic for those using Apple's own iPod touch and iPhone, as they support QuickTime streaming over WiFi, but have higher space restrictions.
The only downfall, of course, is internet bandwidth, but for those with unlimited data plans, it's no problem, unless you have a slow bandwidth speed. Unfortunately, it is unknown if Apple will charge for this service, but in this writers' opinion, it's not a wise move to charge for something you've already bought.
Apparently Apple is wrapping up this service, but it is unknown when it will become available. Keep an eye out for more details later on.
