Are these the specifications of Apple's next iPhone?

It's been a while since we've seen an Apple rumor, but here's one for you to quench your thirst; MacRumors has posted what appears to be specifications (rumored, might we add) of the inevitable upcoming iPhone.

The post originally comes from a Chinese website and forum, and the poster has no current credibility in the world of rumors, so be skeptical. They posted an image, found below:

It shows a model number of "MB717LL", a new one, as well as revealing 32GB of storage space. Again, the poster is not exactly a reliable one, but the specifications (listed below) seem to bode well with all previous rumors.

"- 600MHz CPU Speed (up from 400MHz)
- 256MB RAM (up from 128MB)
- Digital Compass and FM
- 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus
- 32GB size
- No major changes in battery, screen and external casing.
"

All this seems like it would be fairly accurate, but only time will tell. According to MacRumors, Weiphone has been a source of numerous Apple leaks, including the unibody MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

I doubt it and if they do it'll be minimal. From a marketing perspective the iPhone is very recognizable so I doubt they're in a rush to redesign it

Why was the forum post closed? News pages aren't a place for discussion on the _subject_. They are for a discussing the _news_ item itself. Like "Cool" "Thanks for the info".

News and forums should be able to double up.

My 16GB 3G is almost always near full, so 32GB will be nice. 64 would be nicer of course, and maybe 512MB for running apps (most crashes are memory issues and more headroom the better).

It's useless to me unless they allow direct drive access over USB (like the classic ipod)

You can already use the iPhone as a portable drive.

Still doesn't tempt me into buying one you know. It may be shiny and new, but I'd rather have something that was praticle and meets my needs.

That said, an upgrade like this is brilliant for Apple, even if they haven't pulled out all the stops to make the spec as high as possible (if this source is to be believed).

They need to give it a better screen. 800x480 comes to mind, or even 600x400. It always seems like they're one stop short of a full product.

theres always a con to everything.

Hey ! The reception on this new model is much better : they are able to pick up North American AT&T network from China !!!
And the exact name is AT&T[space]3.5 and not AT&T3.5 ...

AT&T[space]3.5 and not AT&T3.5

That's a good point if its definitely that way. But Chinese does not equal in China (apart from in certain places of the world who are taught that is how things should be)

I was really hoping for 5 megapixels with flash too. Especially with SE and Nokia phones seem to be going megapixel crazy. Though 3.2 MP isn't that bad. Apple seem to be able to get a lot out of the camera, in terms of quality.

On a side note, it'll improve the ability to recognise barcodes for apps like pic2shop.

Yeah tend to agree there - though cameras are the least used with phones when I have them, but then again I'm a nerd who carries round my Canon and Nikon!
