ATI Radeon X1950 XTX Uber Edition Hits The Market

After the acquisition of ATI Technologies by Advanced Micro Devices the latter started to force out ATI's brand-name and emphasize AMD brand for graphics cards. However, there are still many fans of ATI, who are very addicted to this name and who would like to get something related to it. Especially for 500 of such people AMD is selling Radeon X1950 XTX Uber Edition bundles signed by Dave Orton, the former chief executive of ATI.

ATI Radeon X1950 XTX Uber Edition is two Radeon X1950 XTX graphics cards (one of which is a master edition version required for multi-GPU CrossFire mode) with clock-speeds of chip/memory increased to 670MHz/2100MHz from 650MHz/2000MHz on default graphics cards. Each of 500 of such bundles is supplied in a special suit-case equipped with a combination lock. Every Radeon X1950 XTX Uber comes with certificate of authenticity signed by ATI's former chief executive officer David Orton.

What the frell is up with this "Uber" ? How does is come that such an easy and small german word "über" is used in so many ridiculous names? And when u use it then dont forget to use it right. It's "Über" noch "Uber" - or are u missing something on your keyboard ? ;-)

That's pretty pathetic considering the cards will only be "state of the art" for about 2 months. Also, who the hell wants something signed by a FORMER CEO??!!?

Total rip off.

Same reason why people seem to demand those 2,000 Windows Vista Ultimate edition signed by bill gates.

First, its 20,000 copies. Second, they cost the same as vista ultimate.

Will be a bit sad to see no more ATi branding come R600/Directx 10 time. I'm sure it will be AMD R600 or X2000 or whatever they choose to use.

AMD's acquisition couldn't have come at a worse time, I used to be a huge ATI fan now I'm gonna have to cross over to the green side :'( Goodbye ATI.

Why wouldn't you still buy cards from AMD then? They will still be the same quality of hardware. All that will have really changed is the name.

They are fairly close as the X1950's are running higher clocked GDDR4 against the 8800 running GDDR3 still but in DX9 games they are fairly close but 8800 with its more powerful core it slightly beats it. but CF X1950XTX vs GTS in SLi probably beats it.

They're probably making fun of themselves there, since everyone always talked about how ridiculous the names were getting. It's the last ATI card so I guess they may as well have fun with it. Now that I think about it how cool would it be to go to LAN parties carrying your video card packed in a big case like that, like professionals carry their pool cues.

LMAO, I totally agree with you!

The last ATI card maybe? Anyway you'd have to be a really big ATI fan I think to want a video card signed by the formor CEO of the company, and it comes in that big suit case? That's crazy...

AMD certainly aren't dropping the ATI brand name for FireGL and FireMV products, so I really see them keeping 'ATI Radeon' for a good while to come.
