It crashed and rebooted my XP Pro SP2 machine 3 times on the first download and twice on the second. I give up.

I think you may have bigger problems than this little app.

Why? Because a little freeware app crashed? SiSoftware Sandra and SIW work fine and show everything the same and working correctly.

I grabbed it from their site and it crashed XP again, it starts scanning and when gets to my "storage" drive (just a partition on my single drive created by gparted) it goes and crashes. Now I really give up.

Friggin Aussies :P

It looks alright from a glance, but comes off a bit short to me. Yes, I know it's freeware, but there's competition there too, like from SIW (that tool may not be as "pretty" but it's very powerful), and so on.

I mean, it has poorly thought out features like showing that SMART is active, but not the actual SMART parameters that indicate your hard drive health. Sure, I know SMART is active -- my BIOS tells me every time I boot up! But what it doesn't tell, and info that's available to Windows, is the important stuff like drive health.

Most of the other info, I also already knew where to find it in Windows Vista rather quickly (like System Properties, the Device Manager, or right-clicking a drive). There are some exceptions to this, but not too many.

It mostly seem to come off as an app to collect information available from Windows in one place.

Sorry if I'm coming off as a bit harsh, but again, there's some really powerful software like this out there, even free. And if you're willing to pay a little, you may end up with stuff like EMCO Network Inventory, and then we're really talking. A killer tool for sysadmins.

Oh and this tool's uninstaller also failed to uninstall its own directory despite me not having placed any files there post install. Especially simple tools like this should be able to do that.

Not a bad program. Auslogics makes pretty good stuff. I agree that the information is a bit limited, It doesn't tell you as much info about memory or other devices as SIW does.
