I used to use Avant (and also it's competitor Maxthon), and found it pretty good. Although why anyone would use this now with Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, or even IE8 available is beyond me. However, it was great for it's time, ironing out the annoyances of IE6.

Just for fun, I checked out the 'awards' page, and found some very out of date comments, which made me laugh. I just thought it was quite funny reading them:-

Avant Browser gives you tabbed browsing in Internet Explorer -- that alone would be enough to make it essential!

This is a excellent Add-On for IE. As a matter of fact you need IE 5.5 and above to use this browser.

It is the most fast and stable browser I've used. It works well with my two computers. With my old computer PII 333 128M, I feel it's fast.

I tested Mozilla 1.4 (still problems with importing my bookmarks and other settings) and Opera 7.1

Since I've gotten Avant, I haven't had 1 problem. Even my Office2000 is working properly.

I remember netscape being slower than IE on my old Pentium 120, and still using it JUST because it was not IE despite the drawbacks
WHen firefox came along..i rejoiced

is their payware browser anymore ?

The market is flooded with hundreds of free web browsers. There is absolutely no chance of a pay-model for a web browser to survive - no one would buy it with so many free alternatives.

Ah the good old Avant Browser. I use to use it back in the day. Basically about 8 years ago. It was great. But then I switched to Firefox and have not looked back.
