Bitdefender Antivirus Free: cloud-based antivirus software

Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is an antivirus program designed to be fast and to minimize user interaction, while sacrificing nothing of the malware detection and removal capabilities that Bitdefender products are generally known for. By default, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition scans and cleans your system using only the resources that you, your software or your operating system are not using, thus achieving near-zero impact on your activities. Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition periodically scans all of your files and handles all security-related decisions for you. This means you will see no pop-ups, no alerts and you will not have to configure any settings whatsoever.

These are its main features:

  • Close to zero impact on the system
  • Minimum user interaction required
  • Fewer settings to configure
  • Continuous scanning protection for your system
  • Simple program interface

It's good for non-technical people, just your average PC user. But for the ones who like changing the settings and getting more information's, it's a no-no.

Using for a hours and I'd like to say that, this is one of the best free av.
For detection, only time will tell
Also I really like the minimal UI!

If I recall correctly Bitdefender got the highest rating out of all of them on the last AV test (MSE was the only one that failed completely).

or is it as good as?
I use avast justnow but dont like the lack of certain features and would like to try this out but dont want to lessen security.

Not liking it so far, it decided to delete C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regtlibv12.exe without quarantining it because it was identified as a trojan? Files can't be moved out of Quarantine either, so any false positives are lost forever too.

Seems to lack file/folder exclusion too.

Yep, I just tried it and works fine on Windows 7. Pay attention on the setup so you can have in English instead of Romanian.
