By far the BEST firewall today. And its free.

+1.....and it's damn so light on resources.....can't believe that it's free.....

As has been mentioned, no need to back-up your 2.4 settings unless you anticipate that you'll be downgrading. I doubt you will, though. 3.0 can't make use of your existing 2.4 rules so just do a clean install. It's surprisingly light, lighter even than 2.4. I'm very happy.

OMG.............only using 10k. Zone Alarm uses as much as 36k. I am impressed. Boot up time is quicker and no slow downs at all with browsing. Games lauch without interuptions cause Comodo learns all your trusted applications. Why block something if its all ready installed on your pc.

Uhm, because you could already be infected when you install it?

Dude you have no clue of what I am saying. Comodo has realized that if you have software such as games and other things, most of them on your pc for years. Comodo knows those are trusted so it will learn all apps on your pc first. Then after that any new program will have to be allowed.

No, no, I understood that. I'm just wondering if you already have a trojan on your computer, that's been sending out info, and then you install comodo, does it know it's not one of your games or applications?

Re-read my question. When I say "you" I'm speaking in general.

My understanding is that is works by checking the MD5 hash of the program. If the hash is in Comodos whitlist it is by default trusted. Obviously a trojan wont be whitelisted and will be blocked.

Comodo got set of instructions, even recognize uTorrent as safe app not mentioning about general windows processess, very comfortable
and very powerfull, you can block nearly whatever you want on your PC or Internet Connection.

thanks ofr the heads up :} this ones wayy better than the previous one, for me i uninstalled the pervious nad stuff. They really did great on this new version , i suggest converting for 2.4 to 3.0 :p!

Do I need to backup my current install of 2.4 before installing this? Will it remember my previous settings? I really don't want to go through all of the nagging again.

No biggie. Better to unistall 2.4 first. This has learning mode enabled at first. Alot better then 2.4.

Uninstalled 2.4 (3.x requires this), installed 3.x and hey presto, not as much nagging as 2.4 did. Quite impressed. Much more responsive and uses less resources, yet provides more protection.

I've been using the RC and before anyone mentions bloat as usual. The RC uses about 4 mb memory on my Vista x64 and about 6 mb on my x86. More importantly, it's a great firewall right up there with the old Sygate.
