Facebook adds app support to Timeline profile

In December, Facebook launched its revamped user profile feature called Timeline. The new version has caused a lot of debate among Facebook users, especially among those who prefer the original profile design. Today, Facebook announced a new way to add to a user's Timeline experience by adding apps from a variety of different companies.

In a post on Facebook's blog site, the company gives more information about the new Timeline apps:

If you love to cook, you can add the Foodily app to your timeline and share your latest dishes. If your friends have added the Foodily app, you can discover new recipes with each other, as you'll see their updates in the ticker and their timeline, and possibly News Feed.

If you're a traveler, you can add the Gogobot and TripAdvisor apps to bring a virtual passport to your timeline, and show your friends where you've been and share tips about your favorite spots from around the world.

News.com has a full list of all of the companies that are maing apps for Timeline, including Ticketmaster, Digg, Kobo, Zynga, Rotten Tomatoes, and Buzzfeed. You can start adding those apps on your Timeline via Facebook's app site. The apps are developed based on Facebook's Open Graph platform.

I still haven't even got this timeline malarky yet Or the new twitter for that matter.

Get it here if you want it, but there's no going back: http://www.facebook.com/timeline

As for Twitter, ensure that you've installed and logged in to the latest version of the Twitter mobile app. The one that carried a new design. That'll apparently trigger a speedier update for the desktop web site as well, according to this (the bottom of the page): http://fly.twitter.com/

Green button doesn't appear for me on the facebook page. It does it I log out, but disappears after I log in

I don't have an iphone or android device. I have a WP7 device, and have the latest version of their app.

Browser I use is mainly the latest Chrome.

Mine did that too... A week later or after clearning the cookies (I can't remember which came first) it finally showed up.
