Firefox 17.0 stable available for download

Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured Web browser. Firefox includes pop-up blocking, tab-browsing, integrated Google search, simplified privacy controls, a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online.

The Web is all about innovation, and Firefox sets the pace with dozens of new features to deliver a faster, more secure and customizable Web browsing experience for all.

User Experience. The enhancements to Firefox provide the best possible browsing experience on the Web. The new Firefox smart location bar, affectionately known as the "Awesome Bar," learns as people use it, adapting to user preferences and offering better fitting matches over time.

Performance. Firefox is built on top of the powerful new Gecko platform, resulting in a safer, easier to use and more personal product.

Security. Firefox raises the bar for security. The new malware and phishing protection helps protect from viruses, worms, trojans and spyware to keep people safe on the Web.

Customization. Everyone uses the Web differently, and Firefox lets users customize their browser with more than 5,000 add-ons.

Not happy :-(
This has disabled Tab Utilities so I do not have multiple rows of tabs (I keep quite a lot open as FF saves them between sessions).
Would have liked warning before updating. Can I downgrade just by reinstalling 16.0.2 over 17??

great just what i was hoping for ..Facebook related crap lol
change log don't look too interesting..

regardless i always update and prefer FF over anything else since '03 ish ? can't remember.

manage your software and take care of it and place consideration on what you put in it
before blaming the company for making garbage software. Kinda like people who buy an oem pc can never clean it once.. i see these people bringing me their dead pc's and mine is in mint condition and they are re buying machines. Just like software it doesn't take much for some dumb noob to cripple windows with garbage or Firefox.

My advice is have a maintenance plan for FF and keep un-needed addons / extensions to a minimum and avoid installing some you don't need (like Java maybe ?) disable some like Windows Activation tech ?
Adblocking is a must because they are an extreme security risk and web sites that force random misc unknown content on their users is not cool. Support a web site ? fine.
But how many times have you all heard about malware being triggered through an adserver on a legit page ?

I use CCleaner to clean cookies minus the ones i set in options to be saved every few days roughly. And delete download history and compact databases. And every few months i delete the browsers cache and history. (same as i do for chrome and IE my backup browsers, chrome for non english sites and IE because M$ forces me to use it sometimes)

My must have stuff..

Greasemonkey Addons
Google Enhanced Black Script
Set to force all google pages to have black backgrounds etc. I also have this set to change colors on some others sites) Everything conceivable on my machine is Black with bits of blue highlighting just like my pc inside and out and everything i own, furniture & electronics.

Hide Google Instant Preview Script
The Pirate Bay Ad Remover Script
IsoHunt Popup Blocker Script

want the new empty tab page black ? (can use any color or pictures / google it)

userChrome.css
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document url("about:blank") {
body { background-color: black !important; }
}

@-moz-document url("about:blank") {
* {background-color: #000000 !important;}
}

/* Background before page loads see userContent.css for about:blank */
tabbrowser tabpanels{
background-color: rgb(220, 220, 220) !important; }

@-moz-document url("about:newtab") {
#newtab-scrollbox{
background-size: 100% !important;
background-color: #000000 !important;
}
}
As I understand it they haven't actually integrated any Facebook stuff into the browser, it is just an API that social networks can use if you want to. So not really that big a deal.

How's Firefox these days? Last I tried was the version 13 nightly, I believe. I'm getting fed up with Chrome and its obscene demand for system resources, so might have to check out Firefox again.

Bit of a botched update. Can't get the Addons window to open.

Not botched at all, Blame TabMixPlus for the add-on window not opening, it's been a problem for over a month now and the TMP dev's haven't pushed out a fix yet. You can either disable this add-on or download the current dev release of TabMixPlus to fix it.

Thanks, grabbed the dev build and it's all good now

Anyone else have trouble with fullscreen mode in Win 7?

When I minimize out of it and go back, the windows taskbar is visible, Have to switch out of FS and back again to get rid of it.

Added the facebook messenger to firefox 17 now, inspired me to have a few app tabs too. Damn my browser does SO much now!

im still waiting for 18 to move to beta and 19 to move to aurora ... no change on that .. and chances are 17.0.1 is right around the corner with people complaining their bookmarks have been erased after installing 17 (though i did not have this problem) .. right now im using 19a2 (nightly) and it is FAST ... i was using 18a2 aurora but i figured id give 19 a try since i was expecting it today anyway .. again .. FAST . websites load in full almost as soon as you press enter

At this rate, we'll have Firefox 2014 by 2014

Firefox 16.0.2 was released on October 26, almost a month ago so I don't see the so ''huge release rate'' compared with Chrome almost weekly, STABLE releases.

Just ignore him. The comment he wrote is the new "first!". On every Fx's post they rush to write it first.
