Google rolling out new homepage navigation bar

It looks like Bing isnt the only search engine making a few tweaks as Google now appears to be rolling out the new navigation bar on its homepage that it showed off a few weeks back. You can see in the images below the new look that replaces the current black bar with a new layout that is more consistent with the new Gmail design.

The new bar is designed to simplify and unify the Google products and should hopefully provide for a better end user experience.

If you want to learn a little bit more about the new bar, check out this video from Google to gain their perspective on the update.

While the new navigation bar may not be entirely new, it is most certainly not being shown to all users who head on over to Google. So, is the new update an improvement over the current black navigation bar or should Google scrap the new design?

Thanks for the tip leakAddict!

I'm surprised people even go to google.com. I've used searching in the dedicated search bar or in the address bar itself for quite a few years now. Rarely do I waste time going to the google page itself.

I've had this for about two weeks? Old news?

You've been lucky then, this really hasn't been available for all that many. At least the little I use Google, it's still been the old design.

Two Google logos, in case you forget which website you are on.

.
I think, just a menu icon would have looked nicer.

Agreed.

I find the new toolbar pretty ugly.

Agreed.
Also I think the bar could have a bit less height, especially on the main page where it's mostly a fat empty grey bar...
