Today Twitter announced instant notifications for @mentions. Users looking to stay in touch and have real-time notifications can sign up for the service and receive text messages on their phone whenever they are mentioned by someone you follow.
iPhone users will be able to receive push notifications whenever someone they follow, or from everyone, mentions them on Twitter. The new update will be available today for iPhone and BlackBerry users. Twitter did say that the new push feature will be coming to Android and Windows Phone devices in the near future.
