Microsoft seems to have gone into "stupidity land". I am sure they are not blind or deaf and I am sure they can see statistics showing how many people have bought Stardock's Start8 and how many people are requesting and searching for a Start Menu replacement, yet they fail to address the issue and provide users with a native way of bringing it back. I don't get it. Users obviously want it back, so why not give it to them? How hard can it be to put the damn thing back on the desktop?

What Microsoft wants is not the same as what users want.

Well unfortunately Microsoft is not listening to its users and without its users there will be no Windows and if they want Windows to continue to be successful, they need to start listening to their users and give users the features they want and need, as long as they are reasonable and possible of course. If they knew since Beta that users were not happy with the idea of the Start Menu Button being removed, they should've brought it back OR offer users a way to turn it "on" if they wished to do so, not get rid of it permanently like they did. When they did that, they were selfish and thought about no one but themselves and not the user. Not everyone like the new UI without the Start Button and they should know have acknowledged that and give the user options. Now they are paying the price for their selfishness because like it or not, Windows 8 sales suck and it's a failure just like Vista was 4 years ago.

I dont think we should be bringing back the old Start Menu. Instead we should be asking MS to come up with something better than their replacement.
