iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak released

iOS4.3.1jailbreak

A few hours ago, iOS hacker MuscleNerd, announced on Twitter that an untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak is on track for "Funday" release. Funday, or the trending twitter topic #sundayisfunday, is a related nickname for a jailbreak that got released over two years ago on Sunday.

A lot of unofficial and fake twitter jailbreak accounts are saying the untethered jailbreak is scheduled to release at 12:00 AM EST Monday, which is only a couple of hours away.

Both the Redsn0w (for Windows) and PwnageTool (for Mac) are scheduled to release in a few hours, jailbreaking all iDevices, except for the iPad 2. The latest iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak, when released, will be able to jailbreak iPhone 3GS, 4 (GSM), iPod touch 3G, 4G, iPad 1 and Apple TV 2G.

Recently, the iOS jailbreak community announced an unpatched flaw in OS 4.3, which would have meant a jailbreak tool would have been released sooner. However, Apple seemingly discovered the flaw on its own and issued a minor update to iOS 4.3.1, which blocked the vulnerability.

Update: PwnageTool has been updated and released for iOS 4.3.1 (Mac OS X). The windows based jailbreak tool Redsn0w is expected to released shortly.

Unfortunately, my original question did not get answered... I did the jailbreak and the Cydia Icon is blank. When I click on it, the screen flickers and then I'm right back at the home screen... did I do something wrong or does the phone need time to get registered on the Cydia server?

Did you reboot the phone? Also sometimes when the servers are being hammered stuff like this happens.

Thanks for the info... I did the reboot and got the same result. Perhaps it's the servers getting hammered like you said. I did the jailbreak last night at 11 pm (Arizona time). Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I had to go to an unjailbroken phone cause i took my old one to apple cause of hardware problems. I have to say... the iphone is pretty crappy without the jailbreaks. I do think that jailbreaking and running soem stuff eats up battery but i rather have a phone that does what i wanted to.

Just curious as to what you guys install on a jail broken iphone, what are the big apps? What is the huge deal, aside from sticking it to the man. People have always pointed to Tethering, but you have a high risk of AT&T double billing you for a separate data charge at anything they feel like.

Besides tethering, there's Activator, LockInfo, Locktopus (although I think this one is not developed anymore), My3G, SBS Schedule, Multicleaner. I don't really care about Themes, but I know there's a lot of people that do

With AT&T catching on and threatening users who circumvent paying the service fee it seems hardly worth it to me. LockInfo is pretty nifty. Probably the closest think to a "widgets" screen iOS currently has. But still limited and I found it to be buggy last time I used it. SBSettings was also handy, but just made it quicker for adjusting settings and didn't really unlock new features.

I just did the jailbreak and the Cydia icon is blank; did I do something wrong or does my iphone need to register on the Cydia server? Also, is it necessary to upgrade to IOS 4.3.1 or will the jailbreak work with just IOS 4.3?

iOS 4.3.1 fixes major battery issues. You should upgrade irregardless.

We forgive the dumb. Most online dictionaries agree irregardless is not correct, although accepted in the common vernacular as being synonymous to regardless.

my question is when update the jailbreak iPhone, will it lost all of my jailbreak app after straightaway jailbreak 4.3.1 and able to access all the app without any issues or need to sync back again?

The time has come and gone. No JB on the said hour it was rumored to be released.

I'm really surprised Neowin decided to post a rumor on a jailbreak release.

MuscleNerd posted it, he is an official source for jailbreak material. He's 100% legit.

Also, as mentioned above, it's out now. There must have been a small delay.

12:00 AM Monday is more than "a couple of hours" away, more like 8 hours.

Not only that, of the 141 place names on that times list, only 24 are getting it on "SundayIsFunday", lol.

Does this mean unlock the iphone as well? I am currently looking for an unlock as well .. any ideas guys?

I haven't heard anything on UltraSn0w just yet, as release information for jailbreaking is still limited. If I hear anything about UltraSn0w, i'll post.
