Konami scrubs Hideo Kojima's name from upcoming 'Metal Gear Solid V' retail box art

Left: old art with Kojima credit Right: new art without Kojima credit

While Konami has been fairly mum on the situation between itself and Hideo Kojima, it is apparent that tensions between the two are still high. While there have been hints in regards to the dysfunctional relationship, things became a bit more solidified as the official 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' box art was revealed without Kojima's name.

Although Konami will neither confirm nor deny severing ties with Kojima, inside sources are stating that this will be the last 'Metal Gear' helmed by Kojima. Kojima has worked for Konami for nearly two decades. It is uncertain what caused the highly reported rift between the two. While the future of the Kojima is unknown, Metal Gear will more than likely carry on with a new team to produce the next iteration in the series .

'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' is set to release in September 2015 for PlayStation 4,PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
