Lumia Black update begins rollout to Nokia Lumia 625

While many are looking forward to the launch of Windows Phone 8.1 – the most significant update to WP8 since its launch – in the next few months, there is still one more interim update between now and then. Windows Phone 8 Update 3 is continuing its gradual roll-out across the globe, and the latest device to get it is Nokia’s Lumia 625.

The 820, 920, 925 and 1020 have all started to receive the update so far, while the 1320 and 1520 both launched with the latest version of the OS installed. Unlike other Windows Phone vendors, Nokia is bundling Update 3 with its own set of enhancements and improvements to the OS, and rolling it out under the ‘Lumia Black update’ moniker.

As All About Windows Phone (AAWP) reports, Lumia Black is now available for the 625 in many European markets, although availability currently varies between countries and operators. As with previous updates, the process of deployment will be gradual, so if the update is not yet on offer for your Lumia 625, don’t panic just yet. You can check when the update will be ready for your handset on Nokia’s site.

AAWP also notes that the lower-end hardware of the 625 means that certain features in Lumia Black will not be available for the device, including Glance Screen support, and the ability to run Nokia’s recently launched Beamer and Refocus apps.

Cant wait to have a 625 like device without GSM but extra storage for music for less than $90. Nokipad

This isn't really much of an update really. We need a proper MS update.

In saying that, the fact that glance works properly now is a bonus.

GDR3 is included with the update.

And they have always explained it as a minor update... I really don't understand why people don't get that... LOL

It's understood. Doesn't mean I have to accept the woeful updates to WP.

I already had GDR3.

Same as what I thought.
I notice no difference between Lumia Amber and Lumia Black, except now my app list is organised by letters, which I don't like and have found out you can't get the old way back.

That has nothing to do with Black, that's an OS feature once you go past a certain number of Apps.

The main Black improvements are Camera related, Glance Screen Notifications and a few other minor things.

Ugh where's the update for 920

the article says its included

The 820, 920, 925 and 1020 have all started to receive the update so far

I asked EE in UK the exact same question. They had the Exclusive on that one and yet no love for the customers. It was the very last phone I bought from EE. There support for Hardware is crap, the support for queries like "MMS functionality" or International Calls/ Premium Calls is even worse. Not to talk about the purpose of the employees in the EE Shops.

FYI here you will have the Rollout Status of Europa(UK the very bottom ) http://www.nokia.com/global/su...ate/availability-in-europe/

I updated my 920 recently. I think it was Sunday.
I have a Swedish version of the EU model. No contract or carrier-specific crap. It's just a plain version, like it should be. The update was snapped up by the auto-update feature.
You should receive the update very soon.
