Lycoris Desktop/LX Review

Thanks Eric for the mail on the following review that looks at Linux on the desktop, something a lot of people are waiting for Linux Distros to get their act together with.

Mark has taken a break from all things Microsoft and has just finished his latest review for techseekers.net. It is of the Lycoris Operating Syterm which is based on linux.

As I said before, I am impressed with Lycoris. They have made a good start at making Linux accessible to the casual user. There is a long way to go yet but the makers should be proud of the work they have done. It is capable of competing with Windows in the home, something which other distro's of Linux have not yet achieved. However Lycoris could not compete with Red Hat or similar distro's in a workstation environment. Then again, you wouldn't use XP Home edition as a workstation OS. Lycoris is to XP Home what Red Hat is to XP Professional.

Ed note: Are you a happily "switched" user of a Linux for the client/desktop OS distro? If you "ported" or was forced to linux recently for any number of reasons or haven't looked back since Win9x we'd love to hear your comments.)
