Microsoft announces WP7 launch event for October 11th with T-Mobile

While Neowin uncovered a few days back that Microsoft would be unveiling Windows Phone 7 on October 11th in New York, any doubts about the event can now be put to bed.  Microsoft has officially posted up on their website details that confirm the October 11th event and details out the events agenda.

The event will be held from 3-4:30PM at the NYC Microsoft Technology Center, and according to the the announcement also confirms that T-Mobile will be a launch partner.  The announcement states "enjoy light snacks, beer and wine while you get hands on for an exclusive showing of T-Mobile powered Windows Phone 7 devices and an early preview of some of our applications that will be available for launch".

Microsoft recently released the final build of Windows Phone 7 to manufacturing and claimed the company is "ready". Terry Myerson, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of Windows Phone engineering said the company is just getting started. "This has been one of the most incredible product development efforts I’ve ever been a part of" said Myerson. Microsoft workers celebrated the RTM news with an iPhone and BlackBerry funeral at the Microsoft Campus in Redmond.

Well this is definitely good news. I'm glad that Microsoft didn't enter into some ridiculous exclusivity agreement with AT&T... Now just for them to get CDMA in and release on Verizon and Sprint. I really hope that that is now a priority and can release on those networks soon. I'm up for a new phone and definitely want a WP7 device.

My contract isn't up either, but I'm getting that phone. And something tells me t-mobile doesn't want to lose a customer.

Great news! I love T-Mobile. I've never had a problem with them. Their service hasn't been bad to me, and their customer service is hands down, the BEST customer service from any of the providers I've ever used, and I've pretty much used them all.

T-Mobile? They just shot themselves in the foot going with them.. the worst 3G speeds and customer service of all carriers in the U.S

Well, get Windows Phone 7 with AT&T then.

I had T-Mobile before I switched to AT&T. T-Mobile customer service must be at least 100x friendlier than AT&T's. AT&T's call me nothing short of a liar.

That's funny, because an hour ago people were saying MS was shooting themselves in the foot for only going with AT&T.

Because as soon as what people complain about, when it comes to Microsoft, becomes a lie, they pick something else to complain about.

How does the phone's availability on T-Mobile (read: Non-exclusive) "shot them in the foot"?

News Flash - MS can no longer walk, as they have shot both of their feet off.....news at 11.

That is Europe I believe. As deep1234 is in UAE, the launch date is likely different (And I don't believe it's been announced yet for that region, has it?). In any event, I'm sure it's coming soon...

I'm on T-Mobile, and I've been needing a new phone for a while. I've been debating between the Vibrant and G2 for a while, but now I think I'm gonna wait and see how this one turns out.

YAY! I need a new phone deseprately, and I'm proudly on T-Mobile. WP7 here I come! Hopefully the devices come out at the beginning of November or sooner

lmao, this is a soap opera...

No, this is a lot of people speculating without having any information other than a few leaks. Leaks about AT&T availability does not preclude other carriers from offering the device on their networks.
