Microsoft is giving away 500 Windows Phones with Klout

Microsoft is pushing Windows Phone "Mango" as hard as they can, with events across the US in November, and the company has even more up their sleeve.

If you live in New York City and have enough "Klout" (social influence), Microsoft wants to give you a free device from the new 7.5 lineup. It's not clear which device, but they're giving 500 away and it will be of the newer series. Additionally, you'll get VIP tickets to one of the events next month.

“These events are going to be off the hook” said Molly O’Donnell, Director of Influencer Marketing for Windows Phone. The events are big parties to show off the new Windows Phone lineup in the US. They're also open to the public, however the VIP pass will get you a few extra treats (which we don't know about yet).

Why exactly would I want to buy a Windows Phone, if Microsoft's giving them away for free to anyone but me?

I'm fine for a few bunch of promo give aways, but they're in the thousands now. I didn't get a free developer phone when I signed up to the AppHub, and they still didn't want to give me a Mango one early, even tho I have apps on the store that are successful enough.

lol, 1st at all they're not giving to everybody, only 500. 2nd if you want something you need to pay for it, go cry somewhere else.

Social influence eh.. and how will they know that? lol I have a big social influence, between workers and co-workers, does that count? lol

What do you do when no one wants your phones? Give them away from free!
I got a sucky old phone. So if this thing was given to me, I wouldn't use it.

SEDIN why are you so eager to call someone a troll just because their opinion does not cater to yours?

Pretty much everyone I've encountered, even Apple fanboys, say that WP7 is pretty slick.

I got an WP7 phone to try out and love it but for the time being went back to Android because of lack of apps that I need. specially voip apps and opera mini. Maybe in a year's time, I will switch back to WP7 (or probably it will be WP8 by then)
