Microsoft is offering a free 32GB microSD card with Surface Pro 4 Type Covers in the UK

Microsoft has launched a new deal on its Surface Pro 4 Type Covers in the UK, offering a free gift with purchases of the keyboard accessory.

The latest version of the Type Cover keyboard was introduced last October alongside the Surface Pro 4, but it's also compatible with the Surface Pro 3.

Until September 1, Microsoft is giving away a free 32GB PNY microSD card with purchases of the 'standard' Surface Pro 4 Type Cover, which is priced at £109.99, and available in Black, Blue, Bright Blue, Red and Teal colour options.

Microsoft's assertion that the 32GB microSD card is "worth £19.99" seems a little optimistic. That's what the Microsoft Store charges for that card, but considering you can get a 64GB PNY card for £14.95 from Amazon, Microsoft might be overstating its value there slightly. An identical 32GB card, with the same 80MB/s read speed, can also be purchased for as little as £11 from some retailers.

Still, it's a freebie, and whatever its value, free stuff is always welcome. However, bear in mind that the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with Fingerprint ID, and the Surface Pro 4 Signature Type Cover lined with Alcantara fabric - both of which are priced at £134.99 - do not qualify for the free microSD card offer.
