Microsoft releases 4 new Windows 7 commercials

With the official launch of Windows 7 currently underway around the globe, Microsoft has released four new advertisements to market Windows 7. This round of advertisements is very simplistic and dubbed "7 Second Demos". Check them out below and let us know what you think.

Kudos to Omen1393 for the tip!

Im gonna be honest, the last one, the snap, made me laugh when he got interrupted at the end... his face expression was great!
I think these ads were well made, to the point, and its great to see that MS takes the high road and dont bother responding to the mac vs pc ads. It tells people that MS dont need to bash other OS'es in order to sell its own.

Microsoft must be using high school drop outs for their marketing.

Anyone else miss the days when Microsoft made great ads? Even their "Wow starts now" was leaps and bounds ahead of this crap. 7-second demos? "More happy is coming"?? A blind monkey sitting at a broken typewritter could do better. Without trying.

Make your own. Prove yourself right.

Yeah I'd like you to try and do better. I'm pretty impressed with them myself, not bad for Microsoft

I'm impressed with them, too.

I've also enjoyed the followups (especially the Toshiba ones).

What nobody seems to get (at least of the gripers and bashers) is that Microsoft takes no swings at competing OSes (if anyone takes a sticking-to by the ads, it's XP and Vista, though neither is stated by name). Would Apple bash Tiger or Leopard in SnowLeopard ads? Would the Mac Pro throw punches at the Quadra 950? Would the MacBook Air take on the original MacBook?

Talk about understated confidence.

They need to make a 7-second ad about Libraries in Windows 7 ... I find that to be one of the most useful features yet.

Cool ads.

What I like most about the MS ads of late is the use of average ordinary people of all walks of life. That's refreshing. Not everyone is a cool emo hipster college student. lol

I like the way the guy in shake finishes it, 'im a pc, this is how its done.' maybe its his accent but seems cool :S

The snap feature is very handy but I wish they'd fix it so snap would work correctly on dual screens via the mouse rather than having to use Keyboard shortcuts.

The first video, they turn off the sleep option at Windows >.< Anyways, Windows 7 is an improvement between Vista, and in some cases is faster than XP

where can I dload some ads in 720p to play on multiple screens during my Houseparty today? I am down $900 odd with 25 guests..booze..food...Win 7 cake etc lol..

I wont lie only the first couple of ads from apple actually made me laugh but then as everyone pointed out it just got rather lame and annoying.
I had no idea waht an apple could do, all i knew was what can or can't be done on Windows if your a retard.

therfore windows ads win, they shows what they can do and dont focus on apple.

But then again you never hear winners complaining its always the losers(apple) that need to lie and try to degrade the competition to get anywhere.

before some apple fanboy gets his panties in a bunch trying to spew "facts"
explain to me why windows has 90% of the world market and that people will go to great lenghts to pirate windows OS' rathe rthan take free linux.
or the fact programs such as boot camp exist for mac.

What are great lengths? I think the hardest it ever is for anyone to get anything was to go to the Pirate Bay and click a link or two..

But to answer your question.. Windows has 90% market share because it's software made to run on basically any computer, whereas Mac OS X is more closed, they also give Boot Camp out as an option because they're also a hardware company and if a person wants to run Windows on their hardware they still make money. Market share doesn't necessarily represent something better.. People like/don't like Mac OS X and Windows, and people like/don't like iPods and Zunes.

As for advertising, companies have a lot of different directions they take with ads. Apple has their "I'm a PC/Mac" ads, as well have had iPhone, iPod, and Mac commercials. Beer commercials have their "funny" ads that don't really say anything about the product but just do it to get you to laugh or remember the brand. People are going to hate on things regardless, but they're also dumb enough to not see that even their own company does the exact same thing time from time.

"I'm a PC" and "I'm a Mac" sounds incredibly... stupid. :/

I wish MS hadn't adopted that. It doesn't even make sense. But of all things Apple, they adopted THAT.

Imagine that in the car industry... "I'm a Ford". "I'm an Opel". Or why not "I'm a Pepsi", or "I'm an Electrolux dish machine".

But....others have already adopted that. Take the new Forte for instance. For example, their commercials end with "Cutting the lawn isn't really my forte, but that is." as they point to their Forte. So it's already caught on

Ah, I love 'em! Very nice. I like how the people get cut off after exactly 7 seconds. Good sense of humour to them, you know?

i think the adverts are good, they are quick and to the point, i like, as many other people have said that they concentrate on features and why windows 7 is a worthwhile upgrade.

The only thing i would say, the lady with the laptop waking needs to take more care of it, slamming open the lid that quick i'd expect her to pull it from it's hinges one day :P

I think they happen far to fast for most people to understand whats going on - take the shake one, for instance - i doubt that most people will notice that all the other windows were minimised.

That could be true, but it will get the viewer curious, meaning they will either look out for it next time the advert is on, or look up info on Windows 7

Uhh I have never used the Shake since I installed windows 7. I like my windows maximized so I can see everything. So, the shake lost its purpose for me.

I like the auto dock feature when you drag the window to the far left, far right or far top.

I would have liked the Aero Desktop peek to show the actual windows, instead of just the transparencies, kinda like what a Mac OS does.

I like to have all my windows visible,if only slighlty. No matter what improvements they make, it is still the quickest way to get between applications. Maybe your screen is too small.

It does when you mouse over each preview

correction, Apple have always showed the users how to use their software hardware via intuitive videos on their website, as well as bashing

Cheers to Microsoft for actually showing features, instead of bashing like another company....

Not having viruses is a feature. Sheesh, you guys are a little touchy. Have you just read Apples financial report for the quarter?

I bet Microsoft made more

It's not a;ways about how much you make, it's also about how much you make this year vs. last year. Sure, Microsoft makes more money, but their profits aren't increasing at the rate of Apple's.

Hmm, 7 second ads, i like that part of it, getting to the point without the need for bad actors with a long dialog..

They could be better, but what else are you going to do in 7 seconds?

Still better than Apple ads.

I agree the 7-seconds are straight-to-the point, and much better than the "bashing" and exagerated Apple ads.

It'd be interesting to see what else MS has in the works. Yay to D-day; Oct 22nd . Time to hunt for laptop specials (hehe)

Me too!
These are simple but great ads that talks about a feature, not how this or that is better than others, etc...

I think it is laughable. I have had instant wakeup on my mac now for years. I would love Windows to do this, but not worth getting a new PC for.

They are talking about the OS, not the hardware. Maybe it's because you got a crap ass PC that has a sticker that reads "Designed for Windows XP, Windows Vista Capable", maybe you should get a computer that's certified to run Windows Vista or the new Windows 7.

I can't stand it when people expect old PCs to run a new OS and then buy a new Mac and say how great it is! Look at the iPhone and how it can't multi-task and took forever until copy and paste was built in. Seriously, I am using my iMac 24" right now running Windows 7, it can wake up perfectly fine. Mac OS X is too boring, just like the iPhone OS. Snow Leopard is a disaster OS, it's 29 dollars. Then they force their userbase to upgrade to a new Mac by discontinuing support for ppc macs. Microsoft would never do that, they can't do that. So I think you should keep your comment to yourself.

It isn't worth it, your iPhone may have an appstore, but it sure isn't as flexible as a Windows Phone which can multi-task and has had basic features since the beginning. I loved my iPod Touch, but I admit that I prefer the Zune HD, as games are coming soon, plus Twitter and Facebook apps. It has an NVIDIA Tegra too, and looks incredible.

I love Windows 7 and Windows altogether because it's different and changes. If Windows 7 still used Luna and was just packed with new features, I would be upset. That's exactly what Snow Leopard is compared to Tiger, packed full of features but no new UI. It still uses Aqua, and Windows Mobile, Zune, Windows, they all have new UIs and look unique. Aqua has been the same since before XP. Windows has became a great OS, and Snow Leopard is 29 dollars worth of breaks and crashes for apps that don't work right on it.

I laugh too because I have had this on my PCs for years. Okay, maybe Windows 7 wakes up in .25 seconds instead of 2 seconds...big woop. I don't really care.
