Microsoft video shows the new All-In-One Media Keyboard getting tested

As we reported earlier today, Microsoft will launch a new PC keyboard product later this month. Microsoft's All-in-One Media Keyboard is designed to work with certain "Smart TVs" so they can better handle functions and features such as web browsers and apps.

Microsoft has sent Neowin a video, shown above, that demonstrates how the company tested the All-in-One Media Keyboard in its labs. As you can see, the keyboard got a good water soaking in the labs and also held onto the weight of a rather large metal block. We then see that those same scenarios could happen to the keyboard in a real-world situation, like a baby spilling his cup on the keys or a man who inadvertently sits on his keyboard while sitting down on the couch.

The same video shows the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse being bent over and over again to make sure the mouse remains useful. Finally, the video shows one of the company's PC web cameras being tested to make sure it is registering the right colors on its lens.

While Microsoft's hardware accessories division tends to not receive the same amount of attention as its Xbox One or Surface device counterparts, the video seems to show the company's commitment to those PC hardware add-ons.

MS do make ( or at least design!) some great gear!
I'm still using a pair of the best from a few years ago, Entertainment 7000 keyboard and the Entertainment 8000 keyboard and mouse set, tried a few of the alternatives of course but always go back to these ... beautiful!!

Certainly not true of all their hardware. Don't know about their new mice and keyboards though, but I still use older models that I'm pretty sure Logitech had nothing to do with.

We need full keyboard and mouse support via a 360 or X1 controller with the chatpad within windows. Sticks for the mouse, chatpad for the keyboard.

However I love this keyboard. Very similar to the Logitech one I am currently using for my HTPC.

Except that the k400 lacks media buttons such as play pause and skip

IDK, they always seem a bit redundant on a full keyboard. Space bar is Play/Pause and most media players have CTRL option codes for other commands.

The Logitech K400 has volume which is handy for HTPC.

Seeing that webcam there... how about a new webcam, MS? With 1080p, 30 to 60 FPS, UVC 1.5 or USB 3.0 and at least 90 degrees view field?
Well? Leaving that field all to Logitech?

The guy using the Arc Touch mouse is probably thinking the same as me: "I should have never bought this. So unergonomic. Microsoft 2013-: Form over function."
