Microsoft will open 11 specialty retail stores in May

Microsoft has officially confirmed plans to open 11 new smaller specialty retail stores inside shopping malls across the U.S. during the month of May, with special opening day events at each location.

We have been keeping track of Microsoft's plans to open future retail stores via job openings on their careers site. Today, Microsoft officially confirmed it will be opening 11 specialty retail stores in the U.S. during the month of May.

The Microsoft Store Facebook page posted a list of the store locations and opening dates. As you can see from the included map, they are spread out all over the country. These are the kiosk-like stores that sell a limited number of Microsoft related products like Surface tablets, Xbox Ones and more. If a location become popular, that specialty store is sometimes upgraded to become a full retail location.

Here's the full list of the new store locations and opening dates. There will be some kind of opening day sales, giveaways and promotions when each store opens but specifics were not announced.
