Microsoft: Xbox Video is coming to Windows Phone "this holiday season"

The Xbox Video app for Windows Phone will likely look different than the Windows 8 version.

Just a week ago, Microsoft was very non-committal when we asked them if Xbox Video was coming to Windows Phone, saying only that they "hear users and take their feedback into account as we prioritize new work." Today, Microsoft finally confirmed that an Xbox Video app for its mobile OS is on its way.

Microsoft listed Xbox Video as one of many new Windows Phone app and games that are "coming soon" in a blog post this morning. The specific description said:

Easy access to a massive library of the latest blockbuster movies and TV shows. The Xbox Video app for Windows Phone lets you buy or rent your favorite movies and shows, and watch them across any supported device. Only Windows Phone customers will be enjoying Xbox Video on their phones this holiday season.

Unfortunately, Microsoft declined to offer any screenshots on what Xbox Video looks like on Windows Phone. It also didn't state if it will be a Windows Phone 8 exclusive or if it will work on older devices.

Some of the other apps coming to Windows Phone include the official ESPN Formula 1 app, PicFeed, Plex, and of course the big announcements from Nokia World earlier today like Instagram, Vine and Flipboard.
