Microsoft's next gen Xbox event rumored for April 26th

Not long ago we heard that Microsoft was looking to announce the next generation of the Xbox platform in April and to build on that information, it is being reported that April 26th is the announcement date for the console.

The information comes from Rob Crossley who is the associate editor of computerandvideogames.com/uk and states the information is coming from someone he does trust. We cannot verify the information at this time but it does line-up with some previously rumored information. Of course, we can’t ignore too that some had said the event would happen in March.

Seeing that Sony partially pulled back the curtains on its console but at the same time really didn’t tell us much about its future plans other than showing a few games off, we expect Microsoft to avoid that mistake and do a full reveal of the console at its event.

April is not that far off and if you want a reminder of what the specs of the console will be, you can read about it here or more information about the next gen Kinect can be found here.

Launch event? That would imply that the console is being released that date...

I think reveal event might be more appropriate.

Same as the PS4 with Live instead of Plus, upgraded Kinect which still has no games. Does anyone really need a preview release for that?

Probably not, no, but in this age of leak -> preview -> release, does anyone need previews of an unfinished product either?

Yes we do, you would prefer they just released it to stores without us knowing what it can do? How would that make sense? You really don't understand marketing

Live and Plus are not comparable.
XBL did not give me 15 free full games (and counting).

well Plus gave you 15 free rentals, got it.

Sony gave MS the upper hand here, by showing the world how NOT to do a reveal event, hopefully they use it wisely and show some hardware...

Don't you mean: " ... if you want a reminder of what the specs of the console might be ... " ? While those
reported specs could indeed be what the next XBox contains, they are still only rumours at this time.

"we expect Microsoft to avoid that mistake and do a full reveal of the console at its event."

a mistake is to reveal too much.
1) it would let sony adapt.
2) it would hurt xbox sales.
3) they are getting enough free press as it is.

say less is always a winning strategy until you're ready to ship. basic facs neowin.

WHY?
Nobody talks about the PS4 anymore.
It was a nice presentation but nothing out of this world.

Maybe "Nobody talks about the PS4 anymore"
because the PS4 has "nothing out of this world."

This meens Microsoft better really really step it up its going to need more then blu ray and slightly better graphics and ABSURD HARD DRIVE PRICES or it will fail
