NeoBytes :) is an occasional feature that takes a step back from the big headlines, to take a look at what else is happening in the vast, scary expanse of the tech world - often with a cynical eye, always with a dose of humour.
While Nokia may have moved on to bigger (and better?) things and is no longer the mobile juggernaut it used to be, its phones are, above all, remembered fondly for one thing: their durability. When even a Lumia can stop a bullet in its path, one can only imagine the strength of what would undoubtedly be the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Nokia's lineup, the 3310.
To test just how good it is, a YouTuber has now brought the champ back to the ring, this time in a fight with a searing ball of nickel.
Round 1...Fight!
Okay, the 3310 may not have fared as well as those who swear by its indestructibility would have wanted, but it was no slouch either. It took all of five minutes for the red hot ball of nickel to just burn through its outer shell and, even though the screen and the plastic shell were all but destroyed by then, the internal components and electronics still seem to be mostly intact. The phone may not have won the match - or did it?.
With the advent of Bendgate, perhaps it's true after all: old really is gold!
