imgburn is free and doesn't even require installation. Sure it can't do everything Nero can do but it can burn a CD or DVD from an image file or a bunch of files and folders as well as burn an audio CD from a handful of formats. Do many people really need much more than that?!

I use infrarecorder... it is just 4MB size and do exactly what I need: burn ISO files and clone DVDs and as extra I can make a CD/DVD Data or music. I don't need more.

The last good nero version was 6.5, then it became garbage and bloated! CD Burner XP or AShampoo are better.

Still the lighter the program FTW

Haven't used Nero since like version 6. 120MB jesus. I remember when that **** was like 8MB.

that pretty much sums it up. i dumped Nero ages ago as IMGBurn is pretty much all anyone needs for general data burning.

p.s. for AUDIO CD's, which i don't burn much in general, i prefer CDBurnerXP which is also free.

Did you actually install this to come to this point, or just parroting others.

Well i am sure it's because of it's rep a while ago. when you got programs like IMGBurn, which get straight to the point, Nero is a little 'heavy' to say the least. lol

even CDBurnerXP, which is a simple to use burning application, is better than Nero if you ask me.

p.s. about the only thing Nero has going for it (which is a standalone download) is the audio codec used to make AAC (.m4a) files.
