I just don't see how I can be motivated to move from Nero Burning ROM 12.x to 15.x for 30 EUR (that's with 40% discount!):

CD-Text support when copying Audio CDs
Use free Nero CoverDesigner for creating disc covers and labels with original CD-Text

To put things in perspective I paid less for the Windows 8 upgrade from 7.

If you compare Nero's media creation (video editor, DVD/BLURAY authoring) .. its almost the same as others in its price range. Like just as bloated, .. these programs are very large an have many purposes. People still seem hung up on the fact that Nero after version 5/6 went from burning to full media suite with authoring ability. Its not a burning app anymore, and hasn't been for 7 years or more. It does audio/video editing and playback now as its primary function, with actual DVD/BLURAY burning on the side.

But it also is one of the best commercial burning apps..

The core burning product of the Nero suite (Nero Burning Rom) was always quite good, I always had good results with it. Unfortunately though it's the rest of the bloatware they started puling into the suite that now gives this a bad name. If this is just the burner software, and not the suite, it may not deserve much of that ire.

I still like cd's, in fact I just ordered one from Amazon Japan because there was no legal electronic distribution in the US for the soundtrack I ordered.
If your curious in the Anime soundtrack to Kill La Kill.

I will rip them and upload to google music for portability.

whos still using discs?! i have my cd rom detached from the motherboard and power, it just stays there, because if i leave it a hole, it will let more dust inside the box

What do you do when you need to rip a music cd?

the pirate bay, or kickass torrents, or zamunda, or i just use spotify or a website like ektoplazm.com to play or discover some new music

i dont "rip" stuff, i either download them illegaly, or listen to them legally

Well Nero isn't just a burning solution, but it does great work for mpeg4 / mpeg2, DVD, HD, and Bluray authoring. All Nero's stengths are in its video/media authoring features.

It could be better.

Its not bloatware. It is the same just about when comparing to other video/media authoring suites. I use it mostly cause its cheap: pick it up after rebate at Frys Electronics for between $20 and $50 for the full version suite.

This particular package on Neowin is just Nero burning ROM, by itself, without the stuff many have been calling 'bloat'.

I also do believe Nero Express is included with burners of select brands. I have never seen Nero included with a new computer in my life though..

Does this thing still come pre-installed on any new computers?

I haven't seen it on any computer in eons, thankfully?
