Next Lumia update will be called Lumia Denim

Shortly before Microsoft's reveal at IFA Berlin at 10AM CET, new information has come to light that the next version of Windows Phone 8.1 (GDR1) will be called 'Lumia Denim' and not Lumia Debian Red as it is currently referred to.

This follows Lumia Cyan, Black and Amber before it, and the update is expected to be announced at the conference with the Lumia 730 and 735 launching with it already installed.

According to WPDang, the update will also be made available for the Nokia Lumia 930/1520/Lumia Icon and also the Lumia 830 very soon after, but older devices will have to wait until Q4 2014 to get it.

Lumia Denim will bring "Folders" to GDR1, a feature many of us are already using, but there is no word on what other cool features will make it into the update.

Stay tuned to Neowin for all the latest from Berlin.

I haven't even got Cyan yet on my 920 in the US on AT&T. Ugh.

It was originally promised that Windows Phone 8.1 and Cyan would roll out to "everyone" by the end of July. It's now September. Phones are already shipping with Windows 8.1.1 and Denim, and I'm still waiting for WP8.1.0 and Cyan.

Adding insult to the injury, NONE Of the phones announced today are available in the US. So... here I am, sitting with the 920 and I have ZERO UPGRADE PATH TWO YEARS LATER. No 730, 830, or 930 in the US?

WTF, Microsoft?!?

Download Preview for Developers from the store and sign up for it and you should be able to get the latest Windows Phone OS without having to wait for your carrier. I have Lumia 521 and I'm running Windows Phone 8.10.14157.200

I want the firmware update that goes with it, and don't want the issues people have been having of not being able to update to the new firmware.

AT&T and Microsoft/Nokia need to treat their NORMAL users better... and not require everyone to be a power-user/developer in order to get updates in any sort of reasonable time-frame... and have to jump through hoops in order to get updates to work correctly.

something tells me I may never see this update on my 820 :/ I may get cyan but chances of getting another major firmware are slim..

Would like: Proxy authentication on corporate Wi-Fi. A better Xbox music app. Finer text on large 6 inch devices. A built in stopwatch/timer app. Keyboard resizing and long hold for number input oh and a T9 view when on numbers mode. More Gmail functions on built in email app (starring, label management, etc). Mobile network switch on pull down bar.

The timer makes me so ANGRY! The Windows 8 Alarm/Timer/Stopwatch is pretty nice. But they cant make it universal!? The WP8 alarm is way to basic.

Also, gmail through IE on 8.1 update looks way better and is basically the gmail app in mobile form.

I want the bluetooth pulldown to pop me into the bluetooth settings rather than toggle it on and off like the wifi one does.
