NGP launch titles appear

News of the games releasing alongside Sony's 'NGP', or 'Next Generation Portable', appears to have surfaced on the Internet. As reported by Jolt, the Sony console appears to have had the names of several launch titles leaked - whether intentional or unintentional, the event could prove advantageous for Sony's marketing of the console. When the console releases, Sony intends to support it with four titles from release date. The four titles outlined are as follows:

  • Uncharted
  • ModNation Racers
  • Wipeout 2048
  • Smart As

Three of the titles above are more well known, but little is known about 'Smart As'. It is possible that the game is simply using a code-name at this point, or it may be a 'brain-training' title, similar to the games released for Nintendo's DS during the early days of its lifespan, such as Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day!, Big Brain Academy, and Doctor Kawashima's Brain Training. Regardless of the game's content, retailers will likely offer 'bundle' deals where several of these titles can be purchased alongside the console for a discount. Not only are the four above titles mentioned, another well-known Sony franchise is also spoken of during Jolt's article. That franchise? Resistance. A Resistance title was already released for the original Playstation Portable console, under the name Resistance: Retribution, though another title may be able to make use of the more powerful hardware contained inside the Next Generation Portable.

Surprised it still doesn't have a proper name.

More surprising to me is that it doesn't have a price yet.
