NiGHTS into dreams remake coming to PC

Earlier this week, PC gamers learned that a PC re-release of Final Fantasy VII was in the works, with some new features added in. Today, Sega announced that another classic game was coming to the PC platform for the very first time, with some updated graphics.

Sega's blog announced that NiGHTS into dreams would be available for download for the PC, along with other platforms, sometime this fall. This will be a new version of the Sega Saturn platformer that was released 16 years ago this very day.

Sega announced some of what PC gamers can expect for the remake of NiGHTS into dreams:

This new version will bring Nightopia to vivid life with improved HD graphics and a 16:9 aspect ratio, as well as added support for leaderboards, trophies, and achievements. It will also feature an optional Saturn Mode that will let players experience the game with the original graphics intact.

In addition to its colorful art style and its combination of flying and platforming gameplay, the original Sega Saturn version of the game was also packaged with its own gamepad, the Saturn 3D controller. In 2008, the game was re-released in Japan for the Playstation 2.

Lets get some HD remakes of the Panzer Dragoon and Thunderforce series of games please! Also please port Thundeforce 6 to XBL and PSN dammit!

I used to play this game when I was younger... It was fun at the time, but I don't know if a remake would be that fun these days. It's the sort of thing that would work well on a Smartphone, but not for a PC.

I had that Christmas edition of the game when I was younger. I've kicked myself several times for throwing it away. :[ I had no idea it would be a collectors item.
