Nokia Lumia 928 coming exclusively for Verizon Wireless, launches May 16th

Nokia has finally announced the long awaited Lumia 928 and it is coming exclusively to Verizon and will launch on May 16th for $99 after a $50 mail in rebate. In addition, early adopters will also get a $25 credit towards the Windows Phone store.

The phone will include "three high-audio-amplitude-capture microphones to make sure you can capture high-end, distortion-free audio even in the noisiest environments" and will sport a 4.5in OLED display with gorilla glass covering the front of the phone. Like the 920, the phone will include wireless charging as well. The camera is what really makes the Lumia line shine  with a super-fast Xenon flash and an 8.7MP PureView sensor out back.

Microsoft, Nokia and Verizon are certainly making the offer tempter for consumers with a $100 price tag and the addition of a $25 Windows Phone store, it's a lucrative deal that could drive a few more consumers into the Windows Phone camp.

For those of you on Verizon, this will certainly comes as good news and considering that Verizon will have the HTC 8x and the Lumia 928 on its store shelves in the very near future, Verizon's portfolio of Windows Phone devices should gained a considerable bit of klout for Windows Phone fans.

I like it! my only wish is that Nokia not fragment their phone too much across carriers. Stick with the 920 and the 820. I like my 810, but find it silly that they had to redesign the 820 as the 810 for Tmobile and 822 for Verizon with all 3 being a different design. The 920 now has 2 designs across the carriers. Keep things simple

This only applies to the "special" US carriers, elsewhere in the world the 920 & 820 are sold unmodified. Speak to the carriers first about their huge egos wanting exclusive devices.

So apparently white and black only...was really hoping for red... Is it just me or does it not look much at all like the EVLeaks render?

Oh, it's only coming in white and black? I was hoping for cyan.

Nice. I can't wait. I just wish there were more color options...

Wowwwww........... And Sprint cant carry this...because?!.... quite frustrating. I am due up for an upgrade at the end of the month and I would have certainly considered this.....

I have been a Sprint customer for as long as I've had a cell phone.... many many years... lol. I am a bit timid to jump ship; not only for the service aspect but I also get some discounts so my monthly bill is not bad. But their lack of decent phones is appalling sometimes. I dunno.

This is the most beautiful phone i have seen from nokia. Very sexy. I might switch to verizon.

Personally I prefer the body of the 920 without the metal band but it is just a matter of personal taste indeed.

I do as well, but I do like the look of this phone as well. And I've been waiting for a standout phone to upgrade to (I'm still on the Trophy).

I think its better looking than the 920 at least.

32GB and no expandable memory by the looks of it (unless I missed something in the pdf).

That makes me want to cry. Seems great other than I will still need to carry my ipod around to listen to my mp3s, since my phone won't have enough storage to hold it. (Saying that my ipod only has about a third of my collection on it).

Meh Verizon exclusive, as much as I like the phone, I won't be spending one red (Verizon) cent on their wireless service. Looks like I'll be waiting for an AT&T variant whilst I hope that my aging Droid doesn't kick the bucket.

Chris - I understand that you have music that you want to carry around. But honestly can anyone tell me the last time they listened to over 1000 different songs in a 6 months period? I have a HUGH and I mean HUGH collection of music. I also still pay for Zune Music with the 10 free songs. So I miss my WP8 device. The Lumia 920 was just a tad too bulky for me and I didn't get into the HTC 8X because of the colors. I wanted a White Phone.

I replaced my Iphone 5 on AT&T with the HTC One and I will replace my iPhone 5 on Verizon for this phone when it comes out in White. I can't totally shed myself of Airplay since my home system runs on it. But my iPad will do nicely controlling those things.

Good job Nokia. Keep it up. I am curious as to what the CATWALK would look like. If it's nicer and thinner than the Lumia 928 then I might have to reconsider

I'd be interested to see this in person. From the specs, it looks slightly thicker and about 30% heavier than my current 8X.

Damn it I want this. I've got one more year to go on my current plan before I can upgrade from my iPhone 5.

Sadly, I think I'll have to keep the iPhone 5 around or purchase an iPod Touch in the meantime. I have some apps that I definitely cannot give up due to the way they tie into some services that I use quite often and that I have a subscription for.

Hopefully with people jumping ship thanks to such great designs, devs will finally be convinced to create WP8 apps.
