Nvidia shows off Windows RT on video

Nvidia has posted up a video on its YouTube channel that shows off the ASUS Windows RT Tablet 600 in action. The video shows briefly what the upcoming platform will offer and for those who need a refresher, Windows RT is WOA and will only be available to OEM partners.

The device is running on Nvidia's Tegra 3 platform and as Nvidia pushes to become a key supplier in the industry for WOA tablets, expect to see the Nvidia marketing train turn its full attention to this emerging market segment.

The form factor we see in the video is quickly becoming a hot commodity as several other vendors have shown off their interpretation of how the touchscreen and the traditional laptop can be blended to get the most out of Windows 8. It is definitely a new approach to the traditional form factors but if we don't push boundaries, innovation will fall flat.

Take a look at the video as this is Microsoft's tablet OS in action and it will be put to the test against the industry juggernaut, the iPad.

ARM needs to focus and push all their resources to the limits. Intel will come with some very energy efficient 3D chips in the near future. I don't think ARM can compete with that just yet. If Intel can pull off what I believe they will, even Apple will go with Intel. Apple is the one company that doesn't care about change. They will change their entire OS to get the best technique, but that might take some time..

I don't like Windows 8 on desktops, but for the tablet-world it'll be the most powerfull OS out there. WIill blow Android away and can compete with the iOS ecosystem. Ready for the future, because it supports X86 and ARM. So whoever is the best chipmaker in the future, Windows can and will support it. Smart move..

But who knows.. Apple has a huge amount of cash, resources and manpower. Maybe they'll pull of some chipset magic as well.

Just want to point out which I am surprised no one else did...

In the video he states, first time ever multi-tasking. O_o. Even the way he shows this, I am like uh, Win7 does this with the little snap features. But also, in WinXP you could put windows side by side. But anyway, very nice

He probably meant first-ever multitasking on an ARM tablet, as Android and iOS don't support viewing 2 apps at the same time.

This is what I'm talking about! Windows 8 works amazing on such a device! I'll finally get a tablet once this comes out.

Looks awesome. Love the keyboard dock. Will Windows RT ship with Office 2010 or 2012? Has anyone said yet?

Yes, RT comes with Office 2012

Im mildly skeptical of the battery life on a tegra3 but if they can pull off at least all day battery then im sold. These devices and their accessories are looking good so far.

Almost sounds like the Spanish pronunciation of Jesus. "Hey-suuuus"

Say Pegasus then just cut the Peg off of it. If I remember correctly Pegasus was or was going to be the name of the company originally.

Would switch against my Iconia tab everyday...
TAKE MY MONEY

and I would prefer something like dual screen Iconia, but not the one Acer has now with worthless gpu, and low quality screens.

If this has a decent price tag on it, it will sell like crazy. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
But I have a hard time believing it will be under $1000.

This is an arm device, Arm tablets generally retail for half the price of an x86 one.

HOLY **** THAT IS PRETTY AMAZING. Even Android on Tegra 3 doesn't impress me as much.

and god, that device is thin!

love this flood of windows 8 news starting to come about. Glad to see x86 and arm options starting to come out. I wonder if any of the x86 hardware partners are going to brave the windows 7 waters and offer a tablet with 7 now and upgrade coupon to 8 so us early adopters can have modern hardware to use with dev and consumer copies

I would buy one tomorrow if they did that.
