O2 expecting Samsung Galaxy S5 to be available at the end of this month

O2 Germany has already posted a teaser image of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 with a form to keep potential customers informed about the availability of the smartphone.

According to the carrier, the Galaxy S5 will be available by the end of February which means that the smartphone will be hitting stores within days of its unveiling at the Mobile World Congress on February 23. O2 UK may also be one of the first carriers to offer the S5.

Going by the teaser image, we can expect the Galaxy S5 to be water-proof, which has been one of the speculations surrounding the phone. Other specifications that are rumored to be part of the device include a display of 5.25 inches with 2K (2560x1440) resolution, a true octa-core processor with 64-bit support and a 16 megapixel camera.

On the software side, the next-generation Galaxy is expected to run on Android 4.4 KitKat with an overhauled TouchWiz UI with flat icons. Samsung is also expected to reduce the number of redundant apps and bloatware following their decision to co-operate with Google.

Already?

Cripe, how old is the S4?

Glad I never got into that upgrade just because I can or because a new model came out fad!

Of course,
I don't live on my phone like so many people I see now a days either!

Good feature, pretty easy to screw up an S3 with just a little rain or sweat. The "water stamp" or whatever it's called turns color at the slightest hint of moisture voiding the warranty of course.

My good old and reliable Galaxy S III disagrees with you Everything is a matter of taste. There is no definitive "Best phone" or "Best company".

Samsung is blah. LG makes much better looking and working phones. As soon as the Samsung craze is over, the better.

I'll stick with Samsung due to their removable (and therefore upgradable) batteries.

Meh, removable batteries isnt that big a deal now. They are pretty reliable and big enough to last all day. The last phone I bought a bigger battery for was my S1.

Samsung is over rated

That's YOUR opinion, based on YOUR usage

Removable battery + Card reader is a must for me.

Assuming this comes to my carrier.. I will likely upgrade to it. At the point in my contract for a free upgrade/renewal and I am assuming the S5 will be top-tier for a while yet.

Excellent, but iFans will all come out and say; "Gimmicky" no matter what, waterproof sound functional, means real feature, not a gimmick. Other specs sound great too. Of course if it ‘Plastic' makes it better for being waterproof, yet iFans will also say; “Cheap”, although iPads are made with plastic and you never hear them say “Cheap” if Apple uses plastic. So it is simple: iBias!

I hear that.

Finally. More companies doing waterproof phones. Technology was there for a while... And HTC one and S4 should have already being at least water resistant, IMHO.

Why? Do you drop your phone regular in the toilette? Can you use the displays while wet?

a few friends have a boat and go out fishing all the time. they don't have to worry about dry bags, huge bulky cases, etc...

it's awesome to just take the phone out of your pocket, shake the water off, and you're good to go

well - guess its "make up a story why this feature is need" time

oh, come on! that's a poor troll attempt! try harder... at least i gave an example of why waterproof phones are useful!
