Obama launches Recovery.gov

Obama has used technology like no other president in the past. From his YouTube addresses to websites, he is always embracing technology rather than resisting it.

With the signing of the "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" he has also launched a new website, Recovery.gov. As promised in his campaign, he vowed for transparency and this website is the fruit of his labor.

The website promises to help the American taxpayer track where his or her money is being spent, how it is being spent, and when it will be spent. No other president has used the internet in a similar manner to promote ideas and responsibility.

Regardless of your political views transparency in our government will help to keep them accountable for their actions. Check out the new site and make sure to give your feedback so that we all can stay informed.

this is why this idiot shouldn't have been president. this country will be going down the sh|tter. oh wait it already has. and he is doing nothing to fix it....lets build a railroad from L.A. to las Vegas. wtf is that going to do for me? why does each Gov't official need an electric car? wtf am i paying for this Sh|t? lick my ballz demo******s.

I suggest you to take a chill pill. It helps.

And you should blame your beloved Bush who dragged USA to the ******, it is funny that you are blaming Obama for this situation, and its even funnier than you'd think he can turn this situation upside down in only three weeks since he started.

Come back in two years, then you are allowed to whine like a mindless kid.

Ok, let me get this right, $288b for Tax relief. Quote from the site, "*Tax Relief - includes $15 B for Infrastructure and Science, $61 B for Protecting the Vulnerable, $25 B for Education and Training and $22 B for Energy, so total funds are $126 B for Infrastructure and Science, $142 B for Protecting the Vulnerable, $78 B for Education and Training, and $65 B for Energy." Can anyone explain to me in English exactly how that's tax relief? Because I can't find an explanation on the site.

The site sure is pretty though!

Obama,

Stop with this spending please. Please sit down and think instead of "swift" actions.
Look at what the last bail out did to one company.

LOL like children who ask for a dollar for candy, and come back for more when they realize they can cry and whine to get more. It seems these guys are threatening congress with job cuts if they don't get their way, I mean their children need new Ferraris

I am so glad to see a president who supports well-designed websites. I don't really care about the policy, I'm just thrilled to see some nice-looking websites.

:D

Transparency? What about the promise of allowing the American taxpayer 48 hours to review the proposed stimulus bill before it was passed through Congress? Not saying the stimulus package might not have been a good idea originally, but the approach has been nothing short of shameful. Instead of the White House drafting the proposal and then allowing Congress to refine it, the Democrats were given liberty to include funding for their pet (pork) programs. Further, where was the bipartisanship? President Obama extended the proverbial olive branch to the Republicans, and swore that they would be included in finalizing the language of the bill, only to have it abruptly retracted.

Absolutely shameful. The Congress passed the largest economic bill in the history of our country (actually, of the world), and then not one member read the entire proposal. Sure, they will argue that they got the "gist" of it, and that the finer points had been argued, but when we are talking about a trillion dollars, you would think that they would give it more care.

This stimulus package ended up being $2,700.00 for every man, woman, and child in America. This equates to approximately $11,000.00 per (average) household. Our grandchildren will be paying off this debt. And for what? Many of the line items of this bill do nothing to generate jobs for the American people.

You do realize that everything you said is political BS. I can think of another bill that supposedly no member of Congress was allowed to read before voting. To be honest, a little less than a majority of bills are not really read before they are voted on.

Wow, I really like that he's using technology to provide clear information to what's happening and what will happen and what has happened. Also, he seems very fast, the guy's a hard worker and seems to want to make something good out of the USA.

I'm a hella more proud to have him at the USA than to have Harper in my country. :S

he is always embracing technology rather than resisting it.

Wasn't Obama trying to delay the rollout of Digital TV or something, correct me if I'm wrong.

As much as I'm getting tired of wating for the switch over... and ticked off it was delayed... there are people who have applied for the coupons and haven't gotten them yet. I do think these issues need to be resolved before the switch over occurs.

I'm already on 100% digital so it really doesn't effect me, but I am getting tired of seeing all the commercials and scrolls talking about the DTV switch. I can't wait for it to be over.

Did you bother to read the article you posted to? It asks what the cost would be to also accelerate one of the programs if the 1st one was canceled.

I hope that he means getting broadband (DSL, wireless) to EVERYBODY --- no matter where they are.

Satellite isn't gonna to be cuttin' it anymore; 5 years from now.

Grr, and I hate the price.

OBAMA PLEASE HELP US!

;)

And the 1st one just happens to be the crew module.....

Oh, come on. It's a propaganda site to promote their outrageous spending act.

OMG give the man a break, his doing what no other president has ever done before, being more transparent.

Like how transparent this "stimulus" bill is. With nobody reading it before it was voted on and with it being drafted in secret from all but three liberal republicans.

This is interesting. I hope this will actually be truthful and work as intended.

BTW, there's a typographical error:
- The website promises to help the American taxpayer track where his or her money is being spent, how it is being spent, and when it will be spent. No other president has used the internet in a similar manor to promote ideas and responsibility.
