Office 15 images leak out [Update] video and more images added

There have been quite a few high profile leaks over the past few days for Microsoft. First a new shot of Windows 8 leaked out, and now Office 15 images have hit the web. This leak comes courtesy of sp3cialis5t on Twitter.

The images show a slightly updated ribbon interface but does not include much of the 'Metro' interface that Microsoft is currently using across some of its products. Although they do appear more flat than the previous version which does align with the Metro styling. It is expected that Microsoft will carry the 'Metro' theme across most of its products including Windows 8.

Microsoft Office has become the staple product for productivity. While others have tried to nudge into Microsoft’s territory, few have been able to make a dent in the marketplace. One of Microsoft’s largest competitors is OpenOffice.org, despite being free, has yet to attract the attention of more than a handful of companies and government organizations.

Update: Here is a video  of Office 15 and pictures of Excel and PowerPoint have been added:

Microsoft to bring 'Metro' look to Windows 8 with 'Aero lite' theme

Trying to allude this to be anything Metro is just taking ridiculous a bit too far. It's not like the Zune desktop client isn't a fan of gradients all over it's dialog boxes.

This is simply just a design choice, not someone trying to "Metro" theme anything.

Looks like Powerpoint will finally supports widescreen.

I've been able to make 16:9 slides for a while now... The option to do so in 2010 is in "Page Setup"

Powerpoint 2007 for sure does- under Slide Show, there's an aspect ratio option.

People talk about 'METRO' like microsoft is using them all over the place and like it was going to translate well for apps like office. we don't really know.

I like it! Not yet invented by Apple, but it's something along the lines of Apple style.

Why the hell don't they fix 2010 before working on a new version

They'll never fix all the issues in 2010. They were probably already planning for this one before 2010 was even released. Microsoft is primarily about turning a profit, quantity over quality. If 2010 has major bugs they may fix them with updates, but they're big thing is going to be the same as it always is, "If you want these brand new features that could be added with a service pack, you will have to go to your local dept. store and pay us another ~$100+ for Office 2015!"

What issues? You can't complain if you don't list em. Otherwise, you're just full of hot air.

LOL what are you talking about?

OpenOffice has way MORE ISSUES, and its gotten worse with a LibreOffice forking out.

To all the people commenting on leaked screenshot of windows 8 and Office 15, saying "how is this news","why post this when there is no noticeable change","booooring" and so on;

This is where neowin.net came from, during the Windows Whistler beta time (thats XP to all of those who post things such as the above), this is what Neowin.net did. This is where we all got our latest beta-news update.

So please, SHUT UP and STOP posting if you cannot appreciate stories such as this.

windows whistler went through different phases until they came up with the luna theme. i remember it having some seriously ugly theme before luna.

I love being able to buy each version of Office Proffessional for £20, means if I opt for the latest, and it turns out to be a bit of a duff.

I didn't waste £200.

For all we know it's running on a computer with Aero disabled.

Using Office 2010 with aero disabled looks nothing like that.

it looks exactly like that...open word, set to silver scheme and disable aero, the only difference is they switched a light gradient for a flatter look in this screeny

It looks very similar, no idea where you get "nothing like that" part from.

neo158 said,

The only difference I can see is the square corners and the highlight around the window on Office 14 at the moment.

I meant Office 15, damn hands, lol

And if it looks anything like Zune... I'll be very disappointed. That interface is why I went with Android, and bought a new phone a year earlier than planned.

So let me get this straight, you went with Android because you didn't like the UI of the Zune software!!!!

He has the oddest way of picking his software purchases that is for sure.

Office 2007 and 2010 had glossy gradient toolbars. The toolbars in the screenshots are completely flat, like Metro.

The reason is very simple: They are using the Classic Windows Theme. Go ahead, change to it in your Windows 7 and Office 2010 will look EXACTLY the same. Look at the buttons on the top right. There is nothing there that resembles Metro in any way.

they're not using widnows classic theme, look at the translucent title bar on that insert graph dialog

Well I expect some minor ribbon tweaks to get Office more ready for tablets and win8. The rest is backend work, like porting them over to ARM etc.

Look at those minimize, maximize, and close buttons, don't they look a lot like that leaked Windows 8 screenshot earlier?

Office has it's own.

No, it doesn't. If you use Aero they are exactly the same as the Windows buttons.

these win8 and office15 screenshots are so unsatisfying. nothings changed at this point (not that i want big changes to office2010)

There's a lack of Aero Glass in them, I've noticed, which is excellent to see I'm hoping there is a heavy presence of the Metro Design Language in this version. If the whole thing looks anything like Zune software, I'll be very happy.

There is no Aero Glass in the screenshot because it was taken on XP. Notice the title bar.

Use the Windows Classic Theme and....hurrah....looks the same without Aero Glass. I honestly can't believe that people here aren't realizing that and talking about Metro. lol.

so you don't want big changes but you're still unsatisfied and want more changes - make up your mind dude

No. Just no. This isn't XP, I doubt 15 will even run on XP. That's 7 without AERO.

In fact, that might be a build of 8 looking at the titlebar...

it's 7 WITH aero and somehow the word window isn't translucent.

While I do like Aero Glass, it would be nice to have a option in every program to enable glass, so it would suit people that like aero glass and people that dont

What are you talking about? It's even got the XP desktop background.

Isn't it the new Win 8 theme? Check out the screenshots.

Bliss? Where the heck do you see Bliss? It's not XP. I will bet money Office 15 won't run on it. It's dead people. Move on.

+1 Although, from a business point of view, the decision stands on the market share of Win 7.
