does any1 know a way of updating my touch to the new software without having to sync it as i dont want to delete music i have from other computors? cheers

t located me within 100 feet. It's about as good as my GPS.

While it'll give you a good idea of where you are it's no where near as accurate as my GPS which can pin point my location within 3 feet (most GPS's are that accurate these days).

I suppose no one remembers that the iPhone is based on the subscription model equaling free updates and the iPod Touch isn't. Apple got into legal trouble a while back when they offered an update for free (don't remember the product). Although, they could've offered it for $1.00 I suppose.

I have been an avid user of computers, hardware, software and electronics since windows 3.1 came out. I HAVE NEVER EVERY IN MY LIFE PAID FOR A FIRMWARE UPDATE. THAT IS UTTER CRAP. I don't care what new features they added, it's a firmware update. Damn Apple, how greedy can you get? I guess I can't blame them since Dell, Microsoft and HP have left them in the dust for the past decade.

LOL, I got an iPhone anyway. Nice and Jailbroken, with apps that can rearrange icon order, send multiple SMS, Navizon GPS, and all kinds a cool features that will take Apple years to release. Chess, NES, GAMEBOY, file FTP... whatever apple, shove your 20 dollar where the sun don't shine.

Believe me, You people are crazy sometimes. iTouch is a music/video player, thats what its been advertised for, and thats what it was made for. So wait, now you want your mail, stocks, weather, MAPS (GPS-like), and Notes on your mp3/video player? FOR FREE? What the **** is wrong with you people. The iPhone is a communication device. NOT THE ITOUCH.

All i hear is ooooooooooo my god, $20?!?!?! i cant believe it. Like kids. like retarded kids just whining and complaining. And dont give me that bull**** about Software updates arent supposed to charge anything? Well a software update is a update which the product advertised something, and it didn't work, so its updating it to make it better or secure it. NOT TO ADD NEW MAJOR ONES.

One might say but the SONY PSP adds new features for free, well guess what? SO DOES iphone, apple tv, and I-touch (display lyrics while playing a song, videos with chapters, etc..).

So please, dont come surf the net if you are a kid. Go do your homework, clean your room, do something else then coming to these great websites whining and crying like little bitches. GROW THE **** UP!

First of all, why would someone pay $20 for these apps when you can get them free plus 100's of others off jailbreak installer.

Now this is directed at you. The itouch is and always has been advertised as a music/video/picture/web browser. Wifi is the main selling point of the whole thing besides the touch screen.

where is the voice over ip for the touch? That is a basic feature for any mp3 player...

Thats already out for the itouch. Its called SIP-VoIP and I use the app. They sell the microphone at walmart and theres probably 15-20 different voip services it works for.

Please don't try to be smart because you have no idea what the hell your talking about.

Yea, I only have an iPod Touch with the upgrade. What would i possibly know about it..

BTW, remember the golden rule: Don't antagonize the admin. We tend to be cranky.

The iPod Touch does not cost $20 more if you buy it now, and it just so happens to have the same software Apple is charging $20 for. Apple has screwed its early adopters before, and it is doing so again.

So anyway, I'm pretty irritated that my iPod Touch still doesn't help with geocaching. I mean, what the hell is up with that? That's a BASIC feature of any media player now...

Yo, you dont get the idea here. When the iTouch was advertised, you knew exactly what was going to be there. Thats why you bought it. You want more major upgrades, you have to pay. For new customers, its now being advertised that it comes with all those great things, so they dont have to pay extra, which will push them to purchase the thing. Its a company strategy and they are NOT being unfaithful. You just *think* they are.

I take that as you are being funny. Geocaching on a video player that has not been advertised to do GPS!!!

Of course I think they are, it's my opinion. To me, it's not the $20 that matters here. If they charged everyone $20 then I would be ok with it. I personally would look for freeware alternatives, but that's not the point. If you charge for something, charge everyone for it. Early adopters are everything when it comes to new ventures. The iPod Touch and the iPhone did things other products in their categories did not. I'm not saying early adopters have the right to sue, but they especially should not be penalized for their eagerness to support a company by purchasing their new product.

Actually, I paid knowing that Apple could update it and I could get more apps - I paid expecting that to happen, and have it covered by the cost that I've already paid. It's not like it was secret that Apple would be adding more stuff to it and it's future potential is part of what I feel I paid for.

Not that it's an entirely big deal for me - I've not much use for any of those apps.

they are nice apps (been using them among many other great apps on my jailbroken touch for months), but nowhere near worth any money . . . updates should be free (talk about nickel and diming)
