Winners announced: PC Tools announces New Zealand launch + Giveaway

In early November, PC Tools -- an Australian based Antivirus and PC performance and protection tools development and research company -- announced that they are releasing their products into the New Zealand market for sale.

PC Tools, who are a Symantec owned brand, have been developing products for over 12 years. With their release in New Zealand, they are making their entire product portfolio available for purchase. The products on offer are split into two categories, one which focuses on Security, and one which focuses on PC Performance.

The security products, which focus on the immediate protection of the PC include "Spyware Doctor" which is available with and without antivirus, as well as PC Tools' main Antivirus product, "PC Tools Internet Security." AVTest.org tested the product and the 2011 suite of protection products has a 100% detection rate of infections, as well as a clean rate of 100% in real world malware blocking and removal.

The performance range features "Registry Mechanic" for repairing issues with the registry on PC's, and the "PC Tools Performance Toolkit." According to PC Tools, independent testing by Passmark found that the performance products "improve the experience of Windows 7, XP and Vista Users" by reducing boot time and speeding up overall performance.

Neowin has six 1 year licenses to give away for PC Tools Internet Security and PC Tools Performance Toolkit, to celebrate the launch of PC Tools in New Zealand.

To enter, post in the comments to let us know why you'd like a free license to PC tools for a year, and the winner will be randomly drawn on the 29th November. Anyone can enter, regardless of location, and those who win will be notified via PM.

The licenses available are 3 protection suite licenses, and 3 performance suite licenses. The winners will be able to choose on a first in, first served basis.

For further information on pricing and products available, visit the PC Tools website.

Congratulations to: KamiQuazi, Recon415, TheJudge, The Visitors & SteelToast who are the winners of the draw! We will be in touch via PM shortly.

I would like to have a copy of the software to protect myself from viruses, torjens, spyware and the sort since I am not fond of the competitoers software of pc protection

I would like a copy just so I could burn it. Most PC Tools products are rubbish, especially Spyware Doctor which in my experience has many characteristics of a virus. It wastes resources, and can be a pain to remove sometimes. Had a lot of other problems with it as well.

I'm in...
I'm using TuneUp Utilities for 3 years... Maybe it's time test other product that improve windows experience, and this is the best oppurtunity..

I remember PCTools on a floppy disk (5,25"). It was a fabulous tool that everybody wanted to own back in the days of black screen and c:> prompt. It was a must for any pc owner.

I've been using Registry Mechanic for years now and it has never failed me. I've grown to love PC Tools products and would love to have this.

Back in the 80's and 90's there was a US company/Product called PC Tools. The wrote DOS tools and then a few versions for Windows 3.x as well. They, too were bought by Norton's, pre-Symantec, and then disassembled and eliminated. They were at the time the only competition Norton had. I might argue they were better products at the time. So I have two questions:

1. How can they use the same name that was once a registered trademark?

2. Are their products anywhere near as good as the name sake? I'd like to find out.

They (Norton) purchased PC-Tools but they didn't killed it instead, they moved to another market.

PC Tools brings back memories. I used to love Central Point Desktop back in the Windows 3.1 days! However, the article is slightly wrong here:

PC Tools, who are a Symantec owned brand, have been developing products for over 12 years.
The original company started developing products in 1986, so it is over 24 years!! I'd love to have the software for the nostalgia value alone.

PC tools might improve the reliability of my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love a copy to stop my brother from NOT using "protection" on his computer & it requiring it to be cleaned every 3 months

I would like a copy not for myself, but for my mother who is not so Tech Aware. I often FIX her PC 2x a month. She's one of those people who often does not pay attention to where she is going or what she is downloading.... She keeps her mind on the goal & if the goal happens to be to install some random screen saver or game, she does not think what risk could be behind that goal.

Congratulations to: KamiQuazi, Recon415, TheJudge, The Visitors & SteelToast who are the winners of the draw! We will be in touch via PM shortly.

Got the PM & replied. This will go to a very much needed use for my mother. Who's the good son?

I'd love to get my hands on this software, Currently useing AVG free on Windows 7.
Its a good app but the New AVG install's are geting way too in your face trying to promote there paid version... I'd prob also register for more years for PC Tools too... And I'me in Auckland NZ
Neowin Rocks and Hi all.

I would like a copy of PC Tools because i tried their free trial and liked it, and i was also one of the early beta testers for their windows vista/64-bit version

I used to be a great fan of their firewall on my old P4 machine and I would like to try their new suite on my new i7 rig - Their test results differ from the way the tests are run so I like to try it myself...
Count me in.....

PLEASE don't give me a license. I have no clue why i should need this software. There is no reason to use this software instead of MSE and all these performance tools (damn i hate them all).

So please don't give me a license...

I would like a copy of PC Tools because I had one of the first versions that came out on the 3.5 disks and loved it, the product was sound then and i loved it, have looked for it to put on my PC's and Laptops, besides that anyone that can make a video as I just watched has to not only be smart at what they do but smart in general....Give me a license change, please......

Having multiple freewares on a computer at once to accomplish the same tasks that a simple suite such as this do seamlessly, is a pain. I'd like one for the sake of convenience.

What? 100%? No u

The product box instantly made me think of Windows Antivirus 2011

I'd like to win the software so I can see if it really works the same way!
(Hey, i'm honest!)

Video above is nice. I used PC Tools in past it didnt actually impressed me at that time, but dont know if they improved in last 2 years.

I've read about their products, but never used or installed them on
any of my systems. I do desktop support and repair if needed. I'm
always looking for good utils for improving desktop systems and
protecting them. Maybe I might even win a copy and try it out ..

I am a big fan of PC tools software (since 2005) and always i use to repair my pc Regestry Mechanic
i tested alot of regestry repairs software but not like Regestry Mechanic, i LOVE that software its a shame my serial expired

<3 PC Tools

Why i want to win the PCtools.

PCtools is a pioneer in defense against Malware, Back in the Days they were the "spyware killer" with Spyware Doctor. And these days they have a full Suite! That they are owned by Symantec now does say they do good things because Symantec doesnt buy crap.
