Reading List now available for Windows Phone 8.1

Hot on the heels of Microsoft launching a new video editing app, Movie Moments, for Windows Phone 8.1 comes word that the company has adapted its Reading List app as well.

Like the Windows 8.1 version, Reading List for Windows Phone 8.1 allows users to save pages from sites for offline viewing later and to put those articles in a list. The app even allows for those saved articles to be placed in a number of different categories. Articles can also be pinned to the Windows Phone Start screen in case users want to quickly get back to their story.

Articles can also be shared with others via Facebook and OneNote and recently deleted stories can be quickly restored. The app is supposed to sync with the Reading List app for Windows 8.1, but it looks like that feature isn't quite working yet.

Just a reminder: this app only works currently with the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview. That means it won't work on smartphones that have Windows Phone 7.5 or 8.0 installed; Microsoft has not indicated if they plan to update Reading List so it supports those platforms.

I have had it on Mac and iPhone for quite a while and I find it invaluable and part of a very useful workflow from having a thought, googling it and saving it to the reading list for later.

I think the Windows categories are overkill.

The Sync works for me. I added a few sites on my phone . 40 sec lateer they appeared on my surface RT

Yeah. It works for me too.

Try restarting your phone and/or waiting a little while. The first sync takes some time and then after that its fast.
