Samsung: 30 million Galaxy S III units have been sold

Just hours after Samsung announced that it had sold three million units of its Galaxy Note II smartphone in just over a month, the company has now given a sales update for its flagship phone device, the Galaxy S III.

The official Facebook page for Samsung Poland has revealed that the Galaxy S III has now broken the 30 million sales barrier worldwide since it launched in parts of Europe in late May. In just over five months, the Galaxy S III has already outsold the original Galaxy S smartphone, which sold a total of 10 million units. it has also outsold the more recent Galasy S II, which reached the 20 million unit sales milestone.

The sales success of both the Galaxy S III and now the Galaxy Note II must be something of a comfort to Samsung as the company is still taking it on the chin for losing its design patent court battle to Apple in the US. Of course, Samsung has been doing its best to take on Apple, and its iPhone 5, with its own aggressive commercials that try to show the Galaxy S III is superior to Apple's new iOS device.

I dont know why i didnt buy the sIII I'm sticking with my S II for the moment.. I was pretty much sold on Lumia 920 but the no micro sd slot was arrow on my knee. Well my next phone should have micro usb3 (Wireless charge wont hurt) 2Gigs Ram would be fun

I love my S3, it does for me everything I need it for BUT if I can get a Lumia 920 in a reasonable price I will convert my eyes closed, NEVER going for an iPhone, I do not like the iTunes malware on my computer, which wants to format everything according to what 'Apple' wants.

Not personally a fan of these phones, but competition is only a good thing for everyone. It's pretty telling when you see these phones randomly on TV shows now compared to the iPhone. Times are changing.

Meh, how many of them will be sold off when people realize what a shoddy company Samsung is? They might make some nice handsets but their support of those devices is abysmal! Here in Australia the Samsung supported Galaxy Nexus is still waiting for Jelly Bean 4.1 (Samsung claim is Google's fault for the constant delays) and not to mention the Galaxy S2 4G is still waiting for ICS (Samsung blaming Google for that one too)... Yes, I'm aware those devices in other markets are up to date but that is the point! They are so busy pumping out new devices, that soon as a device hits the market it's essentially abandoned this is where Apple have nailed it with the iPhone, when Apple release an update EVERYONE* gets it and you can be assured that for at least 2 years you'll be looked after by Apple. </rant> With all that said, I'm still a fan of Android and love the OS as a whole. Just disappointed with how the OEMs are handling supporting their devices.

* = Obviously not everyone gets updated, Apple drops support for older models all the time but your good for at least 2 (or more) years before your hardware is considered obsolete and unsupported by software updates.

Samsung us a shoddy company? Like Apple isnt? And not sure about what carrier you are on, but the SII got ICS months ago.

And yep, Apple has nailed it with the iPhone and their tabs. Nailed it so much that they can give you minor upgrades and people will still buy their products like crazy. Apple was ahead of the game for a while and locked people in to buying their crap and people will pay for minor upgrades each and every time.

Hope everyone is finally enjoying their bigger screen and LTE in the iPhone 5...finally. And the iPad mini really REALLY blows. But again, it is apple so people will buy it because of the Apple logo.

Not the SII, the SII 4G. The SII got ICS ages ago as you said, but the SII 4G (and the Samsung supported Galaxy Nexus) are still waiting (due to delays Samsung claim are Google's doing). I'm not sure who is really to blame, other carriers are testing (or have released) the update and my carrier (Telstra) claim they don't even have it yet and Samsung are claiming it's Google that is holding them up...

I never said Apple were angels, just referring to the fact at least Apple support their devices with software updates far better then most of the OEMs do. As to the hardware side of things, that is a different story.

I would advise an iPhone 5 over an S3 anyday, as much as I hate to say it, the build quality and components are far inferior to those made by other manufacturers like Apple and Nokia.

Too bad iOS doesnt do anything.

It makes and takes calls, it has internet, and can have apps. takes photos. Same as other phones. Only little features are different, but your post does not really state anything true.

Happy that Samsung has a winner on their hands. good for them. It is too big of a phone for me but glad there is some competition out there.

How exactly are the components worse when they share many of them? For example, the iPhone 5 and GS3 have the same camera sensor and the Nokia Lumia 920 has the same processor as the U.S. variant of the GS3.

They are also made by the same factory company FOXCON just different physcial locations.

A lot of the components are made by Samsung. If you are talking about how the phone is made...plastic/metal......well, that is an old argument and all I know is that my GNEX doesnt scratch and can take more of a beating than an iPhone can.

My SII doesnt even lag, so youre obviously a liar

My Son has an SIII, his Mum has an SIII and 2 of my work colleagues have SIII's...NONE of those phones are "very laggy and slow phones +battery drain issues"...So I would suggest that "lomas" is either giving a typical fanboi comment without even actually trying out the phone or simply, and quite pathetically, a sad individual we call "troll".

And before you ask, no, I do not have an S3...I have a Note II

Think your full of **** apple fanboi

Both me n my misses have SGS3's and there's ZERO lag.

Maybe you meant the iFail 5 is a large POS

LMA0! You actually thought your lame comment would pass off as real? How old are you really?

lomas said,

Have you even used the SIII? It is far from laggy and the only battery issues I have seen are when people use LTE a lot.
