Samsung flips off Apple, uses same actress in ad

While the battle between Samsung and Apple has been waging on in court systems around the world, Samsung decided to take the battle to your living room. The Verge has discovered that the same girl who stars in the latest Apple 4S commercial is now featured in a Galaxy Tab 8.9 commercial in South Korea.

At the core of the feud between the two companies is Apple’s claim that Samsung is copying the style and design of the iPhone/iPad and iOS in general. We can’t help but think the company hired the actress with the sole purpose of annoying Apple in a public, but legal, way. Whether public opinion will take their side remains to be seen, but Samsung has definitely upped the ante in the battle.

Although the Samsung commercial has been pulled from their official website, both commercials can still be seen on YouTube.

I just hooked up a new SAMSUNG BD Player and the interface to switch between various functions includes a very Mac like dock, it also includes bouncing icons found in the Mac dock.

I think SAMSUNG decided to go ahead and copy Apple as much as possible.

wow Neowin, i never thought you had it in you, really dont see how this is news, actors acting in more than one add,who would have thought it eh, them pesky people at Samsung poaching Apple Actors.....

there is one bloke in the last 6 months that did comercials for about 7 different companies on tv, thought it was funny =]

I once saw a McDonalds ad that had the same guy from a KFC ad. Mcdonalds totally flipped off KFC!!!

Ads are going to use the same people(as mentioned before), so I don't see how this is a flips off to Apple.

the first person that came to mind was Colonel Sanders. That woulda been so great

They are intended for different countries! The iPhone 4S is for US/English and the Galaxy Tab is for Korean (or some European language, i'm guessing I don't recognize the it).

This is not a deliberate act of stuff you we used the same kid, its a deliberate act of we have a product to sell, lets advertise!

Samsung seem to just love adding to Apple's claim that they're ripping them off.

Why would they even use english actors in an ad for the korean market?

Side note: I think Apple's claim is BS, but this kind of stuff isn't helping Samsung.

Sensationalist headlines ftw.

Nothing sensationalist in that headline... Can't you just imagine a Samsung brainstorm where one guy gets up and says "Hey, you know what will really **** of Apple ? If we can get the little kid from the 4s commercial for one of ours !"

Apple fanboys will scrape the bottom of the barrel and do ANYTHING to prove X company copied some Apple product.

now now, why does it say FULL HD there, samsung? no way in hell that tablet is full HD. unless its talking about the hdmi output? mmmmm

samsung can only copy...

Seems Samsung has a sense of humor, which Apple (and their users, looking at the reactions) lack.
I hope Apple will copy a bit of humour and self-relativation soon, they really need it !

Like you can base an entire user base on the comments you have read from whiny little fanboys around the internet.

Honestly people invest in this kind of crap and no one wins.

Fixed that for ya.

As an Apple user, I am shocked and appalled that you would stereotype us in this way. Apple users are very humorous. Just listen to this Apple joke:

- Begin Apple joke.
- Why did the Galaxy Nexus cross the street?
- Because it was an inferior product, with terrible design, and a crappy OS.
- You may now commence laughing.
- Ha. Ha.
- Laughing time has ended.
- End Apple joke.

(And for the sarcasm challenged, yes, I was being sarcastic. And yes, I was copying this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KENZD6IjDYI )

Huh?

Somebody help me out here please. I always thought I was quite good at English, but I have no idea what that word means.

Yeah because IP theft is so funny.

There is no imitation at all in this story.

So when Apple copies others, such as notification center from Android, or even the name achievements from MS/Xbox/WP7, and so many other features, they are not creepy stalkers, they are doing it for the good of humanity, right? Or perhaps it is because they took the ideas of others and improved upon it, benefiting their user (because they improved the word achievements in glorious ways)? Or maybe, using the age old Apple fanboy argument, it is not about the money with Apple, while with all other companies they are just trying to steal a buck from the poor unsuspecting users. And I guess The years of "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials wasn't stalking, it was just a fun, light-hearted teasing.

Cut out the "poor Apple" crap, it is getting tired.

Notifications are covered under FRAND and besides Google ripped off buttloads from iOS so Apple is entitled to rip off one measly feature from Android.

The point is that everybody copies from everybody. But when some company copies Apple, the Apple fanboys treat it as a crime against humanity and it must be stopped. When Apple copies, don't worry, it is OK because they are doing it for the better good.

Don't like it when people hold Apple to the same standard that Apple fanboys use for other companies? Too damn bad, deal with it.

I never pay attention to the actors, kinda care more about the PRODUCT.

But subliminally, you now want Samsung Tab more! That's their tactics.

I think people would want it because Samsung makes great products and also supplies parts so Apple can make their devices. If you wonder why an Apple smartphone/tablet is good, it's because of Samsung.

I pay attention to the actors if they're hot..forget about the product.

Sadly we all want to believe this about ourselves, but the statistic show this is far from human behavior.

Go look up Derren Brown, and realize the art of what he is does is why I have personal objections to Apple's marketing, as it crosses lines of human influence that many other companies are unwilling to use.

Why does this matter? Most people won't recognize it's the same person, and even if they do recognize it, it still doesn't matter!

exactly, pretty much a non-issue, i wouldn't be surprised if samsung didn't know of this as usually these adverts are handled by a third party advertising / marketing company.

You're missing the point. If, as the article infers, Samsung did this on purpose... then it's a tactic not designed for "most people", but for Apple.

Infer as much I'm concerned, this does not imply an accord.

If the parents are pocketing the cash she is getting for these commercials instead of say putting it in a trust fund for her, then that's kind of low. Almost like child labour or something
