Earlier this month, Sprint dropped the price of all three models of Apple's iPhone 4S by $50, along with waiving its usual one time $36 activation fee. Now Sprint is making it even easier to get an iPhone 4S.
The wireless carrier's website has revealed that online orders for the iPhone 4S for a new line of service will also get a $100 American Express gift card. The offer ends on August 26th. The gift card will be mailed to the user in eight to 10 weeks after the iPhone 4S is ordered. When you take the gift card into consideration, the 16 GB version is now just $49, the 32 GB version is $149 and the 64 GB version is now $249 (with a new two year contract, of course).
Apple has already matched Sprint's offer. Business Insider reports that, after calling an Apple store in New York, the store offered them a $100 in-store credit if they bought the iPhone 4S from them and signed on for Sprint's service.
All of this price cutting activity is happening just a few weeks before Apple is reportedly planning to launch the next version of the iPhone, along with possibly a smaller version of the iPad. So far, Apple has not officially commented on when they will launch the next iPhone but they are expected to send out invites to a press event for the iPhone launch very soon.
