Tekken 5 Online Coming Soon

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is set to have a new online mode added soon, it has been confirmed. For the first time Tekken will be available to play online, available as an add on purchase for existing owners of the download game, or together as a full package for new customers.

Earlier in the year the makers of Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3 and 360 said that it wasn't possible to include online battles in games where decisions are so precise and quick, so it is a surprise that Tekken has managed to squeeze it into the Playstation Network.

The game will feature Opti Match, Quick Match, Custom Match and Friend Match options, as well as a ranking system and voice chat. Once purchased the game will be free to play online. Included in the online update will be two single player modes; Practice Mode, and Survival Mode, where you continue to face different opponents whilst keeping the same health from previous battles.

Just for you guy's information, The play online add-on is only gonna cost $10 bucks if they already have purchase the game already. $30 bucks for the whole set, which is way cheaper then buying a new copy of VF5. It's not like they have to spend as much as a new next-gen game just to play it.

Tell that to the makers of other fighting games or players of FPS games. I'm sure people would love playing FPS titles online where they couldnt actually hit anyone due to the internet not making precision game play possible.

Please...

To those who object to commercial companies actually wanting to make money (it's what they're for after all) I have a simple solution: Don't buy the addon. No-one is forcing you to play Tekken 5 online.
The company in question obviously knows that there are mugs out there that will pay for it without complaint, those that complain about having to pay for it should put their money where their mouth is (or not) and vote with their wallet. Spend the money on something else, save it for something that you really think is worth it. Complaining about having to pay for something, and then going out and paying for it, is verging on the hypocritical.

Games companies are not in it out of love of the medium, or any kind of higher motivation, they're in it for the cash. Wake up and smell the capitalism.

I dont see how it's verging on hypercritical what so ever. They are complaining because they want to play (at least those that go on to buy to whome your post seemed to be aimed at). If they want to play it enough then sure, the people will buy it, but that doesnt mean they will be happy or should be happy when they have already payed money for the game in the first place and are now paying for a feature many would imagine should have been there to begin with. Hell I dont like paying much for food but that wont stop me paying more for something I enjoy eating.

Are the company's allowed to do this? Sure. Did the user buy the game knowing online play wasn't there? Again yes. However that doesnt change the fact that there are developers out there that would have added such content for free.

I mean companies want to make profits, thats a given but perhaps they would have made more profit by adding the functionality in to begin with and in the process sold more copies of the game?

Yet the guys behind DOA2 Ultimate and DOA4 managed to do it just fine... twice allready.

The game will feature Opti Match, Quick Match, Custom Match and Friend Match options

Hmmm, now why does that sound familiar? /sarcasm

Charging for an add-on to let you play online is a bloody outrage! This is worse than the Guitar Hero II song packs!

because it sounds like something that should have been there originally?
but meh, what are you gonna do? this is the new trend these days with games. gouge gamers as much as you can..
