µTorrent 3.0. Build 25505

µTorrent is a small and incredibly popular BitTorrent client.

Micro-Sized Yet Feature Filled

Most of the features present in other BitTorrent clients are present in µTorrent, including bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading and Mainline DHT (compatible with BitComet). Additionally, µTorrent supports the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above, BitComet 0.63 and above) and peer exchange.

Resource-Friendly

µTorrent was written with efficiency in mind. Unlike many torrent clients, it does not hog valuable system resources - typically using less than 6MB of memory, allowing you to use the computer as if it weren't there at all. Additionally, the program itself is contained within a single executable less than 220 KB in size.

Skinnable and Localized

Various icon, toolbar graphic and status icon replacements are available, and creating your own is very simple. µTorrent also has support for localization, and with a language file present, will automatically switch to your system language. If your language isn't available, you can easily add your own, or edit other existing translations to improve them!

Actively Developed and Improved

The developer puts in a lot of time working on features and making things more user-friendly. Releases only come out when they're ready, with no schedule pressures, so the few bugs that appear are quickly addressed and fixed.

After all those extra features I barely look at them.. It's still my first choice in torrents download. I miss the simplicity it had once tho.

According to the uTorrent site the latest version is Version 3.0 Stable (build 25460)

When I download the version they have a link for here that is the build that downloads,

I tried the newest version, but what happened to the Logger window? I wasn't sure if the ipfilter.dat was loading correctly. According to v2 it wasn't. I just stayed with v2.

utorrent was made for the main purpose of being tiny and low memory footprint.. it gets more bloated with each release.. same path getright went..

from simple useful and fast application to a big bloated program with many useless features and retarded graphics..

Would have been nice for a change log instead of what uTorrent is as most people already know

what do you mean?

To be honest you all are bunch of whiners.
uTorrent is still a very minimal client and still just as fast.
All the extra features aren't heavy or bulky, still lightweight, you don't have to use it.

Don't like it still? good luck finding a alternative.

There's an easy alternative: Using older versions, hell most private trackers won't support anything higher than 1.X anyways…

Those private trackers don't know anything about it it seems, liking users to exploit their way with security issues.

The private tracker I am a member off has been around for over 6 years and still actively running based on donations and nothing is banned there.

What issue are you talking about? The DLL-loading, which is essentially the way Windows does it or what do you mean?
IMHO it would have been the best if they forked µTorrent right before v2 came out…

I'm a member of many private trackers, and they all support 3. Saying "most don't support" higher than 1.x is ridiculous.

I get torrents faster with v3, period. Thats all I care about. All the features I dont need? I simply dont use them... Not a hard resolution.

If the installer shot up to 20mb I'd start having issues.

Yep they are stuffing too many useless features into it. If they would keep heading to the same direction we soon would be able to watch TV, edit documents, paint and play few 3D games in utorrent, great.

Although I agree they're fattening it up, and still using v2 just for that reason, personally v3 is still a lot better than the alternatives. I'd rather they take all their extra new features and make those optional DLL plugins though. If you want it, great, if not you can just not install them and stay with the more classic version.

I agree, plugin system might be the possible solution.
